I agree, The Simpsons is so old and unfunny now. It should have been cancelled YEARS ago before the standard dropped.
Saying that, I don't even find old episodes funny anymore. There's no room for The Simpsons in the market anymore, programmes like Family Guy have managed to take its place, except it's much more appealing and up-to-date to its audience...

How DARE you say that... The Simpsons has a very loyal fanbase and it's still one of the most popular TV shows in the world
Family Guy is funny, but it's not in the same league as the Simpsons

Um, sorry, but I will DARE say that. I know that a lot of the original fans, such as myself, are not impressed with it anymore, and whether you can realize it or not, it no longer has the appeal, or the quality that perhaps it once had.
There was a time when The Simpsons was everyone's favourite programme, and I think they should have ended it whilst they were ahead, so it didn't drop significantly in quality. Even the actors who provide the voices for some of the characters aren't impressed with it anymore, and I think it's time to call it a day...

Family Guy is a load of crap. I can't stand it, yet The Simpsons still makes me laugh.

I acknowledge that it has gone down it quality over recent years, but it must still have something or it would have been cancelled by now. It is still a very popular show, a lot more popular than shows like Family Guy will probably ever be.

It's not far from getting cancelled, I'm sure.
Of course there's no definite answer on whether The Simpsons is better than Family Guy or vice versa, but Family Guy definately has the appeal to its target audience that the Simpsons has lost.

Only time will tell... I'm sure it will continue as long as there is still public demand for it.
Well The Simpsons have been around for 18 years, and they still remain funny. OK, the quality has declined slightly but some of the recent episodes are still some of the best.
In my opinion Family Guy has declined in quality at a much faster rate and has only been running for 5 years. Since season 4 it's gone way downhill.
