After yesterdays news about the Government losing data on some 25 million individuals and 7.25 million families, do you trust the Government with ID card data?

Not a chance, there's too much information available to too many people and the data is hardly secure, as proven by this latest government balls up.

How can we trust them after this shambles? There really is quite a margin between supposed data protection and what is actually going on in the real world.ID cards would only go further towards more mishaps and more risk of identity theft.

According to the BBC official sources at number 10 have said the loss of the data will not effect the Governments plans to introduce ID cards.

I.D cards were never something that worried me, I was kind o indifferent about them, but now I dont want them to have any more information about me and my family than they need to have.

I am not against ID cards in principle. Should be of great help in identifying youngsters trying to buy cigs and booze..Also veryfying the right to be here.

However since the latest massive security blunder the idea of them is worrying....Security breaches of the order reported yesterday should involve a very long prison sentence in order to make those responsible more responsible

If you don't want ID cards you might as well get rid of your passports. Passports hold more information than ID cards.

Yes and no. It depends what information would be on the ID card, really. And with this latest event, I reckon the care taken with such personal information would increase a lot.
