Also Rhydian's latest blog, which seems to suggest 'Somewhere' is the West Side Story version:

Hi Everybody,

'Go West' Disco week was an experience to behold, and I am just happy I survived it!! I don't think it was my best performance, and it wasn't exactly my kind of thing – but that's the nature of the show, each week we have to sing in different styles and genres, so I'm glad to still be here!

It was a fun production; I obviously stumbled when I said it was lovely to have so many men dancing around me!! What I meant to say was it was nice to do a song that was based around the production of the song and not purely on the lyric and melody.

I'm happy with what I am going to be singing this week, it's a good song for me which has it's roots in theatre so I think I will be back in my comfort zone somewhat. I want to stay true to myself and retain my identity and I think this song will enable me to do that. Find out what I'm singing at www.xfactor.tv
Every week I look forward to getting up on stage, this is why I am here and I'm not losing sight of the bigger picture at stake.

There are no elaborate costumes this week, I have just been for my fitting in Saville Row and I'm just going to be wearing a grey suit. I am not sure what the hair stylist will be doing with my hair but hopefully it will be slightly less ice-cream cone-like than last week!!

Everything however is subject to change, you never know in this game and you always have to be on your toes and be ready to deal with what is thrown at you.
I'd like to say thanks to everyone who has supported me so far and in particular those who have made the effort to pick up the phone and vote…without you I wouldn't be here. I obviously needed your backing last week and I'll need you again this week.

I'd love to reply individually to all my Myspace comments but I literally have only about 15 mins spare per week to do so…but I do appreciate them.

Well Rhydian's is from West Side Story which he should do brilliantly with:

Shirley Bassey version:

Barbra Streisand version (which is the version he's singing I believe):

Original West Side Story duet version:

The old Niki we know will return on Saturday :bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile:

Beverley Trotman – Without You

Good choice, Louis is really trying with her so I hope she gets far.

Niki Evans – The Power of Love

Great choice! Niki hasn't been at her best since week 2 and part of her fan base has slipped, so hopefully with this song it will remind fans why they are fans, and it will be a return to form especially if she does the Celine Dion version rather than the Jennifer Rush version

Same Difference – Nothing's Gonna To Stop Us Now

Typically them. IIRC, they sung this in an earlier round. One of the rules of The X Factor should be that you can only sing one song once, as with all three of his groups he has told them to sing a song they have already done, then accuses the other judges of being safe.

Rhydian Roberts – Somewhere

If it is the West Side Story version, then the song is complete crap and boring. However it will show off his vocals well. It won't be his best week but he will do well.

Leon Jackson – You Don't Know Me

Not a bad song but a bit more forgettable than the rest. Bottom 2.

Hope – Hurt

Really good song. I hope they pull it off and make the final 5.

My predictions for the bottom 2 are:

Leon/Beverley
Leon/Hope

I disagree with Rhydian's, I think this week could be his best performance, it's his type of song and will really show off his vocals and get rid of all the gimmicks.

Beverley - Should be able to pull it off. Shocked if she doesn't.
Niki - Again, she should be good, but was hoping for I Will Always Love You.
Same Difference - Haha, they'll be good too.
Rhydian - Maybe. I don't like him anyway, but I can't say.
Leon - Again, I have no idea. He surprised me last week so hopefully..
Hope - OH NO. PLEASE. ANYTHING BUT THAT. Pheobe's probably the only girl who can sound anything like Christina, and if they choose anyone else, it's just gonna be awful. With some luck, and decent voting, they'll be gone this week. I can't see them doing this great. Niki/Bev would've been better with this.

Thanks Redmond and Shorty!

Beverley Trotman – Without You Another song I'm sure Bev will sing, oops, I mean SHOUT like her life depended on it.

Niki Evans – The Power of Love I think this could be her best choice since Nothing Compares To You, can she put herself back in the game?

Same Difference – Nothing's going to To Stop Us Now It'll probably be cheesy and tacky, and again this doesn't really stretch their vocals. I would at least like them to just sing this and not rely on all the gimmicks.

Rhydian Roberts – Somewhere I was worried when I heard his song had been changed, but this is a much better song for Rhydian! This will be a show-stopper if sang well, and could be his best performance yet. I'm looking forward to this performance the most and predict it will be the best of the night.

Leon Jackson – You Don't Know Me I think the song will suit his voice, and even Brian Friedman can't come up with an excuse for giving him lame and cheesy choreography so he will be focusing on singing for the first time since Home. The problem is, even if he sings this well, the song is so dreary.

Hope – Hurt If they managed to pull it off, it will be amazing. If not, it will be X Factor suicide. This is the other performance I'm really looking forward to seeing, will be interesting to see how the perform this one. I'm glad it hasn't predictably gone to Bev or Niki, because they would just have a boring beginning and shout at the climax. Anyway, I'm not sure how Hope will do, they did catch me by surprise with Back To Black and could do it once again. But if I'm being totally honest, I think this is more likely to be a disaster than it is to be amazing. They've really got nothing to lose after being in the bottom twice, they might as well take a huge risk.

Everyone's saying Hope won't pull it off, but you all said Back to Black wouldn't work, too. I reckon you'll be pleasantly surprised  [or hope so anyway! lol]

But none of them have voices to match someone like Christina Aguilera (no offence)

Yeah, fair point, but Amy Winehouse's was fairly unique too. Either way it'll be interesting!

I predict Beverley will do well, out of all of them choices. But you never know.

Yeah and it didn't. Hope haven't done one performance that has impressed me yet and the song choice this week is a really tough one for them, seriously can you imagine these girls doing an 'emotional' song? I smell disaster and hopefully they'll finally be out of this competition this week, they should've went last week.

Can see it been Hope and maybe Beverly or Leon in the bottom two.

Er...Back to Black is regarded as their best  Well, according to the poll I made anyway. And it did work, it got them through, and got praise from all the judges (bar Dannii), plus Shayne Ward.

And it was an emotional song too, so judging by the similarities between these two songs, it should be good!

I smelt disaster the moment I heard Rhydian's song choice for last week. And ironically, it was a disaster.

I hope Hope pull it off though.

They can't sing though, plus it's hard to really take on board what the judges say because they contradict themselves week after week. They favour the people they want to stay in that week and are harsh on those they'd like to see in the bottom.

Hope has one average singer and then a group of crappy backing singers. I really can't see them making it past this week.

I agree with most of this.
BUT.

Hope has one AMAZING singer, and 4 average backing singers. 2 potentially good singers if they were given more time/chances [emily/charlie].

'Amazing' is a huge over-statement. Phoebe is average at best.
