But now 22-year-old Lily's confessed she was just kidding.
'Of course I'm not going to retire,' she announced at the British Fashion Awards on Tuesday.
'This was the biggest joke in my life and I just cannot believe people would actually believe this junk.
'I talk cr*p all the time and they all know it, so how come this time they didn't get it. Silly people. I am having the best time of my life.'
Lily showed off her figure in an outrageous pink feathered frock at the glitzy event at Lawrence Hall in central London.
She's a svelte size 8 after losing weight on her doctor's advice to battle a heart condition.
Black Eyed Peasrapper Will.I.Am was full of admiration.
'I have a crush on Lily Allen,' the 32-year-old told the Daily Mirror. 'I met her before very briefly. She's cute. Yeah... I'd like to see her again.'
