I am curious, what do people like about Same Difference?
I cant see any appeal myself, but I am inquisitive as to why they are still in the competition!

The fact that they're entertaining, and try new things, rather than Rhydian's 'opera' each week. They also put on great performances.
Maybe because I'm their demographic, I see the appeal?

Dont get me wrong, they can sing and they do have talent. They can sing and dance and do tricky routines which is a plus, and to be fair I would rather SD wins over Rydian but I see them in the role of west end shows or cabaret

They're vocally good. They're in tune, have good ranges [especially sean] and can pull of a lot of dance/movement, and still keep the pitch.
They're fun&light hearted, and they do make me smile. There's a lot of music atm which is all serious, and yeah, serious is good, but it's nice to have something fun, that you can sing&dance along to. Trust me, it's good to listen to them when you're in a bad mood.
They're nice people. Everyone who's met them likes them, and even Simon admits that he can't see why people would dislike them.
Yeah, they can be gimmicky&cheesy, but they've had performances without the gimmicks&the cheese. Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now? Great vocals, no gimmicks, dance routines, or cheese, it was a good performance. Either way, they never fail to entertain. Admittedly, Simon takes the gimmicks a bit far sometimes but that isn't SD's fault.
They're consistant. Never been in the bottom two, haven't really had an awful performance vocally, they haven't really given anyone a reason to hate them. Yeah, cheese, but that's what they're good at. I'd like them to do something serious, and although they've only really had one or two serious performances, they seem to be able to pull off anything so far.
People seem to look at them as children's acts, but they appeal to all ages. I know adults that like them, and teens that like them too. I think they appeal to most ages, because they're consistant, and entertaining. It's an entertainment show right? I can see them selling records, without having to do annoying covers.
They're unique. C'mon, name another X-Factor act that's just like them? There isn't. They're different, and that's always appealing to the public. Who wants same old, same old?
They're nice looking. Sarah's pretty, and oh my, Sean's definately the hottest guy in the competition this year. Of course this is personal opinion.

I completely agree with you, they aren't the traditional XF winners. But when you look at what they are, they could fit really well in todays market. High School Musical is probably one of the biggest things on the planet right now, and they're often compared to that. Cheese.

Excellent post, Darenn! I agree that they're entertaining, which is what the show's about. It's not about finding the best singer ever, its about finding an artist/group that appeal to people (they obviously have if they're still here) and go on to win, and sell records.

I don't like them myself, but I can see how they appeal to other people. I guess some people like the cheesy-ness but personally I can't stand it. They probably appeal to the same people who would watch High School Musical. My brother is a HSM fan and he loves them. I hate cheese and HSM but they're good at that sort of thing. They're really nice people as well so I guess that's a factor too.
I just wish they'd do something more serious and vocally challenging. I just can't imagine them as serious recording artists yet. I'm sure they'll do well after the show is over, but I'm not sure if it will be as recording artists.

I actually think Louis is beginning to like them, but he isn't going to admit it because he'll look a hypocrite. And he always smiles after they perform, where as he didn't at the start.

i can see their appeal because they have a certain innocence and your right on the HSM front. I suppose that as the contest has gone on their personalities have come out more. I wish that Simon didnt over complicate things and go OTT and do the silliness sometimes. If they dont win, I think they will go far.
I suppose that IMO nobody in the contest is the typical XF winner, except maybe Nicki, but she will go the way of Steve Brookstein, have a number one and then fade away.

Anyone can stand on a stage and shout 'We Will Rock You' at the top of their voices.
Lmao @ me twisting John Barrowman's words.
BUT YEAH.

I don't see them trying new things each week really. They've mainly sung cheesy songs every single week, it's almost always up-tempo so they aren't exactly challenged vocally.
I don't find anything about them entertaining. It's just a whole bunch of gimmicks and songs that I hate. They've done my head in for weeks now.I'll admit that Sean's a good singer but I really don't like the tone of Sarah's voice and to me, she's not in tune each week.
They just remind me of an act you'd find at most holiday camps.

They can actually sing and like Rhydian they are different from all the other acts. Personally it's not the type of music I like but they are really likable people and I hope they make the final along with Rhyd.

This is where Simon is very clever and Louis is a t*t. I think Same Difference are so popular because, as Mark says, they appeal to the huge 13-20 demographic. Any one over the age of 25 would think they were too cheesy; which they are. SD are potential finalists because they are hugely popular among the viewers who are most likely to pick up the phone and vote. They're going to be in till the end and Louis knows this that why he hates them so much. The moment SD are in the bottom two Louis will be like the cat thats got the cream.
One thing that I noticed on Saturday. Why did Simon openly critcise Hope but Same Difference, who do the same thing every week, managed to escape his anger. Simon is usually very quick to pick up on one trick ponies.
I might start a thread.
