Is this the ’Ender Tanya?
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas in EastEnders without a few ding dongs merrily on high – and this year doesn’t disappoint as Tanya Branning’s life is left hanging in the balance. The shocking scene unfolds after the Brannings and Slaters get together over a full-breasted bird (and no, we’re not talking about Stacey) on Christmas Day.
Lauren has thoughtfully burned Bradley and Stacey’s wedding video onto DVD as a special present for the couple – but when the two families settle down to watch it, they’re shocked to see the footage of Max and Stacey kissing one last time.
Resisting the urge to roast her husband’s chestnuts over an open fire, a furious Tanya packs a suitcase and tells her children that they’re leaving, together with baby Oscar (born on 13 December). A desperate Max begs to stay, and as the couple tussle at the top of the stairs, Tanya loses her footing and falls to the bottom in front of her horrified children.
A stern-looking soap insider told the Daily Mirror: “The Christmas Day episode ends with no one sure whether Tanya is dead or alive.” But fear not, soap fans... a little bird tells us La Branning makes a full recovery. Phew!
