This morning when I was making breakfast, I discovered that my old Carlton duo Toaster was no longer working

http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v158/25/16/642840893/n642840893_506121_6350.jpg

Attempts to revive it were mad (i.e checking the plug, the fuse and the wall socket) but all things pointed to the fact my toaster, which I purchased in 1990 had died.

I know I should have realised it was on it's way out a few months ago when I noticed that it was not toasting the bread so much on its current setting. I had increase the setting, and that appeared to work.

Even though it had a broken plunge switch, (some years ago a bit of plastic broke off of the plastic switch you use to initiate toasting) it still gave faithful service right up to the end.

The family have asked for funeral to be a private service, and in stead of flowers please send donations to St Mungos (http://www.mungos.org) a charity for the homeless

Thats one Eulogy I would love to read. I have , however , written a poem for this special occasion.

Toaster

To our dearest toaster
Whom toasted our toasty bread
Which sat beside the tea on the coaster
Yes you kept us bearing clear head

To our king of Bread
You got our finest butter
You took our stale product
And toasted it without a mutter

Yes our toaster lived the high life
He brethed life to our mornings
And now we fold aware our plate and knife
And prepare for the low-cholesterol mournings

Who I say will replace it?
Who toasts any more?
And lets even leave out the neighbours taking you bit
I dont want you to appear as a toasting *****

Right. Anyone for toast?

Scarlett.

I know you may not be ready to think about a replacement yet. I know it's hard, and the loss of such can take a long time to get over, but time is a great healer.

When you are ready, help is it hand. I have posted a link for you to make things hopefully easier for you once the time has come for you to take the first step at getting help. Take care. We are all here for you.

Im glad I took the time to read this...
My initial reaction was "someone has died due to a faulty toaster"
To which my follow up reaction was "ha"

3.70 is very cheap. Those toaster from Argos were over hundred quid. Jeez. 133 sovs for a toaster. What is the world coming to.

Unfortunately Life has to go on, and also it was the last one in stock, so I had to move fast.

My old one is now in a carrier bag as I can not bring myself to drop it down the rubbish chute

Think of it with love as you drop it into that chute, you have to let it go so it can rest in peace!!

Girth I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the prices of some of them, I just got one a few weeks ago for £30, it is a very nice chrome looking thing.
