View Full Version : BB:ATW + Pre-Hijack Spin-Off Shows Discussion Thread
Dermot O'Leary takes viewers on a whirlwind trip of Big Brother around the world taking in the best of the housemates, the arguments, the romance, the twists and the controversies across the globe.
Source: Channel 4
Big Brother Around The World is one of a number of Big Brother-related programmes showing on E4 in the run up to Celebrity Hijack, though I think most of them are repeats.
Big Brother Around The World will air on E4 on Sunday 30th December (not sure of the time yet), with a repeat airing on the 2nd of January.
Here are some of the other programmes airing (sorry, I only know dates, not times):
E4, Sunday 30th December: Big Brother: According To Russell Brand
E4, Tuesday 1st January: Big Brother: The Love Stories
E4, Tuesday 1st January: Big Brother: After They Were Housemates

Wow this is awesome. It has to feature Dr Will!! This makes me wonder if they'll be using some ideas from different Big Brother formats in BB9 and maybe BB:CH now. Will be great if they do.
Quick update for you:
Around the World will be shown at 11.10pm on 30th Dec, with According To Russell Brand following afterwards at 12.15am.

And BB According To Russell Brand. It's on straight afterwards.
I may as well turn this into a discussion thread for the pre-BB spinoffs so it keeps it all in one place... there's no point in one for each show as three of them have already been aired before
They showed these programmes before BB8 started the newie is BB:ATW.

The description thing says, "as a brand new series is about to begin" or something like that.
Heres hoping.

Yeah only BB Around the World is new. It's gonna be interesting ! Can't wait to see what they say about France, cause we had the best series this year overall.
Jen from BBUS has to be mentioned. Or if they go from past series, The Nerd Herd vs. The Sovereign Six in BB6
Captain.Remy
30-12-2007, 06:13 PM
I guess they will talk about BBUSA 8 and the ennemies twist and about BB France and the secrets.
Arneldo
30-12-2007, 06:13 PM
I don't think they will go into to much detail about series, so I don't think housemates like Jen or Will from BBUS will be mentioned. In fact I think they may only mention about how BBUS is different from BBUK. Although it says "best of housemates", going by descriptions of past BB spin-off that doesn't nessecarilly mean they will talk about/to housemates. I think it is more likely they will talk about series like BB in Germany and mention Nadia/Anoushka's trips down under.
Redmond
30-12-2007, 08:58 PM
I thought they may go into more depth this time, unlike that first Around The World show. I was hoping for a feature on Dr Will.
Wasn't the first one only like 30 minutes (they mainly just focused on sex in the first one) and this one is like an hour?
Redmond
30-12-2007, 10:05 PM
I think the first one was 40 minutes long, but BB was fairly new at the time, so it was more of a broad look over how it had taken off in other countries. But I'm expecting this new one to be a more in depth look at the differences in formats and housemates in the other Big Brothers.

In BBAU this year, they did a similar task - but because it was BBAU it was a poorer version. BB put 70 spiders into a giant tank and the housemates had to collect a number of spiders to gain luxury items. E.g Luxury meal = 10 spiders and so on.

Horrible, nasty bully. The fact that he was allowed on that show, let alone win it is a disgrace. How can people say this was a plan? His past life shows that this wasn't a plan but this was just him.

It was his tactics though. Whether you like them or not, that is not breaking the rules in BBUSA.
His treatment of Jen wasn't tactical though, that was pure bullying.
But the week where he insulted Amber, Jameka and Dustin was all strategy so that they would evict him rather than his daughter Danielle. He told them all why he did the week after and they forgave him basically. They ended up voting him the winner.

The treatment of Amber, Jameka & Dustin was strategy, for that week. But he also treated Amber & Jameka horrifically - making fum of them, there families and religious beliefs.
His treatment of Jen and Kail was horrific, abusive, harassment, offensive and just plain sick.
Danielle brought him to the final, and I think if the jury had sense some of the footage that the public had saw - Dick would not have won. The fact that Dick won I think is down to a lot of the Jury's dislike of Jen and it just shows the real stupidity of Americans.

Don't think you can totally blame all Americans, Dick and Jen were the fan faves from BB8. Plus attacking religious beliefs is fair game in my book, anyone that not only has belief in an invisible higher power but then preaches it to you and act like they are 'good people' deserve no respect. Kail was a homophobe too.
Dick was out of order to Jen but that's all I think. But the only reason he won was because of America's Player.

I don't remember Jameka or Amber ever "preaching" about there beliefs to any other housemate, discussing maybe but not preaching. Plus there is such thing as respect.
I dont think you can describe Kail was a "homophobe". Yes, she said she didn't agree with people being gay but she didn't hate them, she didn't attack anyone verbally or physically because they were gay. In fact Kail became friends with Dustin, how was gay.

How Horrible was tha Dick person!? How on Earth was he not kicked out for some of the things he said and apparently that wasn't the worst of what he said! From what I could tell he had a serious problem with women, he seemed like a real psycho!
The men on BB Africa sure are dogs! I still can't believe that one man's girlfriend had him back after he'd been with every girl in the house!
The Thailand bit was quite touching really, very brave of him I thought to out himself on live TV.

i thought that the show was really interesting and i didn't think it would be that good! anyway for those who missed it here it is in 6 parts:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=t56Z8lnWqiI
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=07O-Fgf2zFY
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=f8Uj2V1-SUc
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fXMhGgsbSaA
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eiw0yENH42c
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ntdOBEFQZfc
It was really good. I thought it was sort of tame in a way of what they showed from Belgium, because I heard that much worse happened on the show. I heard that big brother tried to push the envelope repeatedly because no matter what happened the ratings were just much worse then they usually were. Apparently housemates would have to do something alone (I don't really know if this website is huge about censoring, but hopefully everyone can realize what I'm referring to.) also in order to receive alcohol. I wish they had shown other things from big brother USA. I do think that Project DNA was probably the best twist ever, but for Nikomis, Cowboy, and Dick to be the ones represented from the American side.:conf2: Also I don't know why they were so obsessed with project nemesis, (I guess they became obsessed with project after DNA) it was never referred to that on the show and also I don't know why they kept putting Project DNA over the big brother 5 title card. I still thought it was an excellent program

Nope the second BB which has been cancelled was the serbian version 2 weeks ago because 3 ex-housemates died.
Anyway, the project was already up for cancellation as they have many religious rules which the producers had to respect.
