I've thought the same thing about Sticks for a long time, he does deserve to be a mod, but thats if he actually wants to be one.

It's a shame some of the mods don't come online anymore. I haven't seen some of them around on the forum for a while.

Maybe because they work backstage, who knows or maybe their social status or anything else has changed so they might not have much time.

Matt is online reguraly, and he has a well kept site, which would make him a good choice if they ever did want new ones.

But, you can see what I mean, the ideal Mod (Stereotypically) would be over 20, as (Stereotypically) they cause less trouble, and see things in a fairer concept.

I am just digging myself a grave!

Well your whole theory is, how to say that, not fair as I can't see how Matt causes trouble and does not see things in a fairer concept. Maybe the age would be not an advantage but he's serious so I can't see where's the problem. But after all, he decides lol

Most of the Mods on the list do pop by regularly, but often in 'Invisible' mode (like I am now ) just to check that all's well. The site is much quieter at the moment and as a result easier to keep tabs on, but I'm sure when the next BB is under way it'll be 'all hands on deck' again.

Wasn't Mark like 16 when Tibb started? if so, i don't see any problems with under 20's being mods, Matt would be the ideal choice if any more mods were needed, and sticks of course.

Mhm, and I think Lance is also under 20. Not sure to be honest, about the others.

The thing I don't understand is that there is "stereotypes", after all, we don't know much about the mods but they are all different so how can you include the notion of "stereoptypes" to something you don't know ?

I have a vague memory of being told that the last time I was considered for that status, was during BB6, which I was sitting out for that year. (I was recalled for BB7 due to a link to Bonnie and a semi professional interest in Pete). They decided to give the status to someone else, because I was sitting BB6 out that year, which possibly is why I am not a mod today.

My understanding is that there can only be a certain number of mods and admins at anyone time, and currently there are no vacancies, so like everyone else if I spot a problem post I use the standard reporting procedures like everyone else.

When the time comes that Mods are needed I am sure due consideration will be given to those members who are fair minded, have time to give and possibly to those that have been here a while and know how things run.

As for age, well Lance and Mike were both asked to be Mods before they were 18 and have both been fantastic Mods for the site. It really isnt about age at all.

Like Kaz said though, we have a full quota of people just now, many of who drop by invisible to make sure things are ok.

Personally...
I think that instead of anyone being replaced, the staff ive never seen online in the months that ive been here should just be demoted to members?

It seems to me that the only logical reason for some of those people still being staff is to avoid the situation of having to tell them "sorry, you're no longer staff" basically just being polite.

Or perhaps for the sake of history/past things they've done etc.

But some of them don't seem to be actually doing anything? or logging on? or posting? so what's their use/benefit to the forum?

Unless all these people are coincidentally away somewhere and planning on returning at some point.

As Kaz said, many of the mods only browse invisibly to check everything is OK. Just because they dont post every day doesn't mean they are not doing theire jobs.

Retroman
11-12-2007, 06:42 PM
Well if the role of a Super Moderator/Administrator is to browse forums invisibly to check things are ok...

Then that's fine.

Those people being staff doesn't cause any harm, and their names being on the staff list is no problem to anyone. Just doesn't seem to be any point in some of the names still being there, that's all.

But i'll sleep well tonight knowing their names are still there...hopefully.

I think Red Moon would fill the position of admin rather well if the opportunity ever arises.

GiRTh
11-12-2007, 06:48 PM
I think the role of Moderator/Administrator is somewhat self explanatory. As Kaz said, when Big Brother is on you'll see all the mods logging on at various time of the day as the forum is always incredibly busy during any Big Brother. At the moment the forum is rather quiet so there is no need for all of them to be logged on for large parts of the day.

Magic

I agreee with Retroman here, but then they do come on during BB, then that sort of fills their positonion.

As PS pointed out, one has only made one post this year.

Retroman

Ah ok, so they're the extra help through the time period that Big Brother is on...

Suppose that makes sense.

Though I haven't been a member of the forum whilst a Big Brother series has been on television, so ive no idea how busy they get, or if they're under staffed, over staffed or appropriately staffed at that time.

Guess i'll find out next year sometime.

Sunny_01
11-12-2007, 08:13 PM
All of the mods that are listed still come online and do their bit. They may not actually make posts but that is really not the point. They all fulfill the job of Moderator when they are needed.

It is a lot different when BB is on, everyone mucks in at different times and it works just fine.

Mods/admins are normally on a lot more frequently during BBs - or at least, that's been the case with BB7, CBB5 and BB8. It works well though, because so many new members register and there are so many new threads and posts, most of which of course are to do with BB. But the moderators manage to keep tabs on pretty much everything that goes on, as well as other issues that need to be dealt with. They do a fantastic job on here! Once the BB period is over, the forum is a lot quieter and more geared towards general discussion less frequently - but still quite pleasant nonetheless. Plus, there is less need for the moderators to be as active and sort out posts etc.

I work Monday to Fridays, 9am to 5.30pm so only get to put my "Mod" hat on outside of these times. I'm also married so have a hubby and house to keep "in order"!!

I try to get on as much as I can to keep an eye on things and like Kaz, I sometimes come on "invisibly"
