Britney Spears a no-show for deposition

Britney Spears today missed a scheduled appointment during which she was due to be questioned under oath for her child custody battle.

The singer was this morning due at the offices of Mark Vincent Kaplan, lawyer for ex-husband Kevin Federline but according to her friend Sam Lufti, Spears was “very sick with high anxiety”.

At a press conference Kaplan announced:

“Approximately 10 minutes after her council appeared they were notified that because of an illness or medical condition Ms. Spears would not appear today and consequently the depsition is not going forward.”

This is the third time she’s failed to show up to court for the deposition. However, the previous two appointments were not court-ordered. Failing to appear today gives Kaplan the right to ask for “relief”, which could see any visitation rights to her kids completely taken away from Spears.

She currently has access to her kids three times a week.

What do you expect? There were a million press outside her home. Was she really going to go out in that?

....yet she's ill? She was going to a private meeting, she doesn't need the press outside her house/court.

I didn't know there were a million reporters in US..... that the a small city of reportes outside her house.

I bet soon the reporters will start building fast food outlets and out of town shopping area's around her house.

It was obviously a hyperbole.
It wasn't about getting the kids back anyway, it was about her ignoring court orders and such.

Well if that is the case they should look her up for contempt of court.

It would solve the media problem, after all a million people round her house can't be good for the neighbors, and the court would know where to find her.

If this was a member of public they would have gone round their to arrest them straight away.

See people act as if it's Britney's fault when she arrives places and has a crowd of people with cameras behind her. I don't know anyone who would want that extreme coverage. She can't control it, she can't stop them following her. I doubt she likes it either, she probably just wants to be left alone. That's why I hate it when all this BS from the press comes out. This is a serious, hard time for her. She's trying to get back her kids. And no matter what she's done, or who she is, she shouldn't have her kids taken away like she has. She's no harm to them. The press/paps are. She can't even drive around with them, they hit the windows, scaring the kids, they stand infront of the car, so she runs over their feet by accident.

If you were going out to face something as serious as a court deposition, you wouldn't want people with cameras following you, because you know everything you're fighting for is being publicly revealed.

Those that live with the media, fall by the media.

Maybe she can get some kind of court order to keep the million of reporters away, if she can be bothered to turn up to court if it is really damaging here health?

She can't do anything about it because it's their job. If they weren't legally one, and were following her all the time, then something could be done.

I understand they don't mean harm, but just lay off.

Britney can control the media if she so wishes. She loves the publicity so the paps feel she is allowing them 24/7 coverage. As Red said, those who live by the media fall by the media.

Britney has absolutely no excuse to not appear in court. Her actions are arrogant and contemptuous. I hope the court takes a very dim view of her no show.
