"We know there are many Rhydian fans who are disappointed that he did not win, but the simple fact is that Leon won The X Factor fair and square," the broadcaster said in a statement this afternoon. ITV added that millions of votes had been cast and that Leon was the outright winner on the night "by a full 10% of the vote".

An X Factor source told DS that Leon had been ahead with voting for most of the series, finishing in first place for five of the eight live shows that preceded the final.

Ooooh...interesting. I didn't know he was that popular prior to the final.

I thought there was only one percent in it. This sounds more and more suspicious.

There was 1% when SD went out, but Leon won by 10 in the end GiRTH

Thats one hell of a swing considering so many people claimed they couldn't get through. I think its starting to look quite suspicious.

The lines were open for a long time after and remember voting has been down by 50% this year.
