This film is something of a mystery, as it was filmed secretly and nobody knows what the plot is. But the trailer looks fantastic, and the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty is quite powerful.

It's apparently released mid-January in the US, but I'm not sure if that date applies to the UK too. It's about a monster, the size of a skyscraper, destroying New York, and is filmed from the perspective of some friends throwing a leavers party for "Rob".

The trailer was featured in Transformers, if you've seen it before.

I can't wait for this film, with J.J Abrams as producer, it's gonna be amazing, as i love LOST, his work is brilliant.
I remember this trailer from months ago and it was just a code name 1-18-08, so i was excited for it even then.

It looks good and as mrs_rko said with J.J Abrams as the producer it is going to be great.

Wow. We get it almost a month before you guys. It was even advertised as 1.18.08, surprised it's 1.2.08 over there

THIS. WAS. AMAZING.

Don't see it if you don't like being on a rollercoaster for about 2 hours straight.

It's really annoying that we have to wait longer, but oh well...it'll be worth the wait I'm sure.

It looks good but apparently it's a 'crap version of final fantasy that causes motion sickness and has a lack of decent plotline'.

It's got pretty mixed reviews - most tend to be either disappointed, or love it.

Am seeing this tomorrow!

I went to see this today. I'm being honest, I felt totally sick the whole way through, I think it was because of the shaky camera. I loved the storyline, and I did enjoy it but it definitley does make you want to puke, it was like my head was so dizzy. The monster was scary looking as well, lmao! Overall though it was a good film.

Absolutely amazing film

It's a bit dizzy at first, but you eventually get used to it...it's much more effective filmed from one camera's perspective. A bit gory with the whole exploding and that, but overall I thought it was fantastic. Film of the year.

Best special effects I've seen in a film ever

Worst storyline I've seen in a while.

Oh my god - one of THE best films I've ever seen.

Seriouslah. I mean, I was ******** meself all the way through it. Those little crab things are SCAARY.

I think the lack of plot was used to the film's advantage as it just let the carnage, thrills and overall fun of the film take over which to me was really enjoyable. I hope they don't ever give it a back story - I like a sense of mystery to a film and Cloverfield has a whole lotta that.

Plus, whenever something is unexplained in a film it seems to spark wonder in fans' eyes, causing them to spectualte for the rest of their lives.

It was a great film, really scary in parts.

I think that the idea of using it as a camcorder respective was a good idea, its makes it more realistic in a sense.

there was no realy storyline to it which i havnt really seen in a film before and it worked well:thumbs:

That woman exploding :yuk:.

I hear people talking about that a following up or second film would spoil it, i think it would be good to see what happened to those two at the end.

Shaun

Yeah, I've heard that there may be another film based on another camera's perspective of the same event, but that'd be pointless really.

Yeah that woman exploding lol i KNEW 1 of the bugs put an egg her it reminded me of ALIEN when there gut explodes.... I think if they make a second they should use the handheld stuff again

It would be a completley different story, apart from that their is a monster invading NYC.

Because if it was another camera perspective they wouldn't go through the same scenario in this one.

They could show it from 3/4 of the way through from the last one and leave off from there on another camera perspective.
