Scrap Hijack... and give us real Celeb BB
Fans in revolt over ‘big turn-off’

REALITY telly fans turned on Channel 4 last night to demand: “Bring back Celebrity Big Brother.”

BB viewers reckon that the new Celebrity Hijack – which kicks off in 48 hours – will prove a big turn-off.

Daily Star readers – the UK’s biggest reality TV fanatics – have bombarded us with e-mails, phone calls and texts.

They are unhappy CBB is being “rested” and has been replaced with a watered- down version.

The outcry follows our exclusive revelation that the show is in crisis after rehearsals proved a disaster, with the celebs stealing the show from the young housemates.

Now many readers are threatening to band together and start a “Bring Back Celebrity Big Brother” petition. Fans cannot believe the likes of comic Jimmy Carr, 35, Little Britain’s Matt Lucas, 33, soccer legend Ian Wright, 44, and comedian Joan Rivers, 74, have signed up, but will not be appearing in the house.

Instead, they will be reduced to acting as Big Brother while a dozen unknowns compete inside the house. Jason Dashwood, who runs the BB online site, said: “What’s going on? Fans just don’t seem to be bothered by Celebrity Hijack. It’s running out of steam before it’s started. “Channel 4 should have either decided to screen another Celebrity Big Brother or just rested the show for a year.

“The talk among fans is that producers are backtracking and the celebrities will be going in after all. Let’s hope so.”

Channel 4 chiefs decided to “rest” CBB following last year’s race row controversy involving gobby Jade Goody, 26, and Shilpa Shetty, 32.

But fans yearn for golden moments with ex-contestants such as comic Jack Dee, 46, right, MP George Galloway, 53, and singer Pete Burns, 48.

Reader Georgina Bridges, 27, from West London, said: “I’ve watched every series of Big Brother and cannot see the point of this show at all.”

Nicola Walsh, 36, of Sheffield, added: “I’m really worried Celebrity Hijack is going to be dull, dull, dull and turn out to be complete pants.”

Meanwhile, Natasha, 28, from Nottingham, texted: “It’s all too confusing and looks like being a right mess.”

The show launches on C4 on Thursday, then runs for a month on E4.

Now producers are believed to be on the brink of deciding to get celebrities to play a bigger role by going into the house.

Its becuse they want to tone it down so they can tone bb9 up if you know what i mean. CBB in the pas has been better that the normal bb. CBB4 was the best cbb series so we had high hopes for bb7.l the series was good but not as good as i couldhave been. I hope the star keeps saying the series is rubbish becuse it will make bb:ch look good if you know what i mean again. Hope they say that about bb9

I think that if they're such talented kids, why don't they flip the format and have the kids control celebrities?

That's just crap, why don't they take quotes from the real Big Brother fans from this website, there are plenty of people here who are really looking forward to Hijack. I know that I am, I think it's good that they are trying out something new and different.

The way these articles are written , one would think us 'Reality telly fans' are a well oiled machine that conducted a tactical attack on Channel 4 last night.

All the wheelie bins in the country put together at Christmas have less rubbish in than the Daily Star

Saying that, I wouldn't mind the return of CBB.
