As we type this, Britney is in hospital in Los Angeles after a dramatic stand-off with police after she refused to hand over her kids to K-Fed’s minders. But we can reveal that this was the culmination of yet another eventful day in the Spears camp. Earlier in the day, Britney finally turned up for her court deposition with the lawyers – but she was nearly two hours late and then only stayed for 14 minutes, much to the anger of Kevin’s lawyers, who later made sarcastic comments to reporters about how much they had achieved. Britney – who was smiling as she was wheeled into an ambulance on a stretcher – is now under psychiatric evaluation at the Cedars Sinai Medical Centre.

We’re still reeling from the news that Britney’s been rushed to hospital, but now we’ve pieced together the events of her dramatic evening:

7pm (Los Angeles time – 3am here): K-Fed’s minders arrive to collect the kids from her house at a pre-scheduled time. She refuses to hand them over, and his lawyers are notified.

8pm: Los Angeles police receive a call from the lawyers, and five squad cars make their way to Britney’s gated residence. While Sean Preston is taken away by Kevin’s lawyers, Jayden James remains inside with Britney.

9pm: An LAPD officer tells reporters that they are “concerned about her mental state and believe she may be under the influence.”

11pm: There are now 13 police cars, an ambulance and, bizarrely, a fire engine at the house.

11.45pm: Britney leaves her home in an ambulance and behaves very oddly – grinning at some onlookers and giving the finger to others. The 13 police cars, with full lights and sirens on, escort the ambulance to the Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Jayden James is also taken to hospital in a separate ambulance, but it’s not currently known why.

12.30am: Britney arrives at the hospital. “Her eyes were like pinholes,” reveals one witness. Meanwhile, Kevin Federline has arrived separately, with Sean Preston. Britney’s pal Sam Lufti has also tried to enter, but was barred.

12.45am: Even K-Fed’s lawyer Mark Kaplan says, “I actually don’t know what is going on.”

1.15am (9.15am here): Britney’s dad Jamie – who has not been seen with Britney since spring 2007 – arrives at the hospital.

As we revealed earlier, it wasn’t just Britney who was taken to hospital – her youngest son Jayden James was also taken to the Cedars Sinai Medical Centre, in a separate ambulance. However, mystery surrounds the reasons for this, with LAPD spokesman Jason Lee saying, “There were no reported injuries to anyone involved including the children.” As our photo shows, Jayden has since been seen outside the hospital looking absolutely fine. It’s now thought that Britney will spend 24 hours under medical supervision, and could then face charges if she was indeed under the influence of drugs, as has been claimed.

The latest reports from the US suggest that any hopes Britney had of getting even partial custody of her two sons are as good as over. LA County Commissioner Scott Gordon has said that both Britney and Kevin must be drug and alcohol free while they’ve got physical custody of Sean Preston, two (pictured here arriving at the hospital where his mum’s currently being monitored) and Jayden James, one. If Britney is confirmed to have been under the influence during last night’s stand-off with police, K-Fed’s lawyers could go back into court and immediately demand that Britney be stripped of any visitation rights. Worryingly, witnesses inside the Cedars Sinai Medical Centre claim that they heard a hysterical Britney screaming that she would “rather die” than let Kevin have the kids.

Sorry but what have the paps got to do with it?

I understand that there would have been a media circus surrounding this scene but all celebs get that reaction.

If she was under the influence whilst having the kids with her then she has broken one of the key agreements of the visitation rights. So why is that the paps fault?

I do feel very sorry for her. She has grown up in a crazy show business world but at the moment she is her own worst enemy. Her priority should be for her kids and for them alone.

I've just heard the full report on the news. LMAO

Apparently she locked herself in a room refusing to hand over her kid. How are you going to blame the paps for that?

The paps were basically banging their cameras on the windows, and chasing the van down the street. Especially seeing as Jayden, who is a baby, was in another van, it probably scared the life out of him.

And it's not drug related, no substances were found in her blood.

And I didn't mean it was the paps fault, I said in shock at how disrespectful they were to her. Of course it's her fault if she's being taken to hospital in a van.

Thanks for clearing that up. Nice of you to be thinking about Britneys baby at such a stressful time for her. Shame she doesn't take your lead.

I agree that they can be very aggressive and that must not be nice. But to be fair, she isnt exactly behaving like a role mum atm. She is a story as far as the paps are concerned. She has courted the same people when she has wanted something to get media attention dont forget! You cant invite the media into your life one minute and then shun them the next.
There are plenty of celebs that don't court the media and have a unnoticed life without all the hilarity of this!!!

The paps are only doin g their job. I agree with KIz. Celebrities are allowed to draw the line with the paps if they chose. If they dont then they get the blanket coverage that Britney gets. She needs to decide her priorities.

You're 100% right. I'll admit she's done things which won't exactly give her no media attention at all, but the coverage and demand on her is just shocking. A lot of people need to remember she's a human, and when they insult her in the papers, or online, it may hurt her. To some she's just a fictional character who has no emotions what so ever. A lot of people need to back off sometimes, or at least live a day in her shoes.

Live a day in her shoes? I'd love it. With all that fame and fortune who knows I may set my mind to actually achieving something.

She needs some serious help and until then she shouldn't be trusted with the kids. She doesn't seem to be able to go very long without causing one controversy or another, no wonder the paps are always hanging around her.
