bad referees

With so many bad refs and linesmen in both rugby and football what do you think should be done about it?

Should they be demoted to the lower leagues? why should the lower leagues get punished for bad refereeing in the higher leagues?


e.g blatant of sides missed, goals over the line decisions, players diving etc

e.g knock ons, penalty tries, sin bins, forward passes etc?

what are your thoughts?

Well the only real viable option is using technology as the referees just aren't going to get any better.Some of the refs in lower league football are even beyond awful, they seem to contradict themselves with the decisions they make.

The only problem with using technology is the amount of time each disputed decision would take to look at.

Ref need technology. With so much at stakes it's criminal that big games are being decided on dodgy decisisons.

When it comes to referees, I always reply the same.

Players and Managers try to cheat, undermine and con referees all the time, so until they start respecting and helping the referee's with fair play, they should stop moaning.

For goal line decisions and things like professional fouls, refs should have the ability to check a replay.

For every dodgy decision there are probably 10 times as many dives, foul and abusive language incidents and trying to get opponents sent off.

Swings and roundabouts, maybe we should demote managers who get subs wrong when they don't change a game or maybe send strikers out on loan to the Conference South when they miss 1 in 3 chances?

Refs make mistakes, but until the fools that play the game stop trying to con them, maybe their jobs will be a little easier.
