Friends ensures we'll be there for Brother
Exclusive by Simon Holden

Channel 4 is planning a super Friday at the end of May ? Big Brother V will begin on May 28, the same night as we say farewell to Friends, an insider has confirmed.

Station bosses want to give the reality show the biggest boost they can and have decided to pull in Friends fans who want to say goodbye to the world's most successful sitcom. It will guarantee them a huge section of the coveted 16 to 34-year-old audience.

The American sitcom will bow out with a double bill from 9-10pm. The 10 Big Brother contestants will enter the house at 8.30pm and viewers will rejoin them after 10pm.

Just like last year Davina McCall will warn them not to swear as they begin their test at the compound in North London.

Channel 4 and Endemol will not officially confirm the scheduling decision but a TV insider has confirmed it to TV Plus.

TV fans will be holding Friends parties across the nation when the sitcom finally ends. American broadcaster NBC has produced an online party pack for fans to plan their farewell bashes.

Each character will give advice. Joey shares his best party chat up line: "You smell better than a meatball sub. Hey, is anybody else hungry?"

And Rachel advises: "Single females, there's nothing wrong with low cut."

It's a very interesting spectacle, the 'going in'.

It was pretty low ket for BB1 and BB2 I think, although I didn't see BB2 housemates going in live sadly. I wasn't going to bother with it at all!

For 3 and 4 there seemed to be a lot of razamatazz. They must be so anxious getting out of the car and being snapped by the photographers.

I can remember looking a Jade going in and thinking 'Oh God'. Mind you I thought that when she came out as well!

It's fun predicting who will go first, flip first, fancy who, drive everyone daft etc.

OK, the anticipation can be better than the actuality.

I will be watching though, that is for sure.

I shall be watching it too, Wendy old bean. Although not on the first night as I'm out that night, such bad timing, I can't believe it. Still I'll set the old video.

Hope we can get so involved that we get back to the old texting each other to discuss it all,.....and no Im not sad.

I must remember to video the going in this year. I find it fascinating to then look back at my first impressions and see whether I agreed with them or not! Also it's handy to have a look back at peoples' families and partners when they start talking about them.

All in all, I think I'm just plain nosey!

No never - just a healthy interest in the people who are hopefully going to keep us glued to the tv for weeks on end.

I so regret the fact that BB1 and 2 housemates went into the house in the morning I missed both live. Its great to see them for the first time and make your mind up immediately about them all. Though for most their personalities come out later - the only one I can remember who started out as he meant to go on was Spencer!!!

Roll on 28 May - BB and Friends I shall be in heaven.

Absolutely!

It is a shame that the BB1 & 2 folk went in the house in the day I'd have loved to have watched all of their early moments entering the house and meeting each other! I'd actually like to get hold of the channel 4 tapes of BB2 and sit and watch every minute of BB2 from ever camera
