Pretty self-explanatory question really.

Who do you consider most likely to win, and who do you reckon will be the two final candidates (Republican vs. Democrat)?

Hillary's a bit of a media ***** to be honest, and she's quite cold. I'd prefer Obama to be the Democrat candidate. I think it would be revolutionary to have a black president (more so than a female president).

Spike

I don't think people should be voting for Hillary Clinton because she is a woman or bacause Barack Obama is black. People should be voting on ther policies.

I like Clinton's stance on health and education, so I'd support her. She also has the experience of living in the White House with Bill, whereas Obama seems a bit too populist really, a bit like David Cameron USED to be [I like him now].

Yes it should. I'm not saying he should be president because he's black. It obviously depends on his policies etc. I just think it would be good for someone black to represent America for the first time. Why would you want Hillary to be president?

I think it would be good to have a black president too after all the racial hatred in the past, I also think it would be good to have a woman president but people should not vote on those two factors. I want Hillary to be president because I think she will keep to her promises of change and she is experienced.

That's exactly what I said. Of course it shouldn't be based on the fact he's black alone. It's just a bonus. I think he can lead America. I find Hillary quite fake.

Victory in Nevada for Hillary Clinton, beating Obama by 51% to 45%, but she still trails at 24% to Barack Obama's 25% in the delegate polls.

Meanwhile, John McCain wins a close South Carolina primary, with his 33% beating closest rival, Mike Huckabee's, 30%.

And Mitt Romney won the Nevada Republican contest, with 52%. Closest was Ron Paul with 14%.

I hope Hillary Clinton does NOT win. She seems so cynical and calculating. Everything she's done since Bill left the Oval office seems designed to lead to this point.

One thing though, if she does becomes president then would Bill become First Lady/Man. Hows that going to work?

Barack Obama has the backing of Oprah Winfrey which will stand him in good stead but I'm not sure if the US is ready for a black president.

There are no presumtive nominess so this will be a tough one to call. Hopefully by the time we get to super tuesday and the Party national conventions there will be clearer front runners.

John Edwards

the corporations are terrifed of him.
the likes of Rupert Murdoch is terrified of him.

he will stop the corporations influence and running of the united states, by their lobbying and bribing of senators and congressmen in the form of donations and other "inducements".

As a trial lawyer with several high profile class action lawsuit victories under his belt, all against corporations - he is the nemesis of both corporate America and the right wing propoganda machine that passes for "news" in the United States of Amerika.

He wants to give the power back to the people, back to the voters and out of the hands of the elite and the deep pockets of the corporate lobbyists.

and that is why he won't get in.

Assuming of course that there is an election.

I still see it as more than a remote possibility that the election could be stopped, using some global event - even one orchestrated by the current republican administration themselves, as an excuse to keep hold of power. A coup d'etat in sheeps clothing.

In any case both Obama and Clinton are actually the REPUBLICAN PARTYS candidates of choice for the DEMOCRATS.

Easy targets to attack and lay the blame for the past 8 years onto - using the propoganda machone supplied by Rupert Murdoch

As an expmple of what Clinton and Obama are really like - squabbling children after the best sweets in the shop compared to Edwards

The only 2 people who vote against war with Iraq & Iran is Obama and Ron Paul.

Ron Pauls wont win coz the media dont like him :p but Obama is the right choice for less war in the war world. I just wish people will vote him and cast aside the fact his black.

The winner will impact every other country in the world

Rubbish. US elections are always big here. Its the top story on most news channels , simply because America is the superpower that it is. Its not a question of colour.

Anyway , to answer the question , I shall be backing Obama , with my limited knowledge of US politics.

If its not a conservative republican , im happy .

I might as well say I vote Obama because hes black,

but then everyone says no, we should vote on policies not race or gender.

but then its ok when some say they want clinton coz shes a woman...?

- clinton wants war with Iran

- obama doesnt want war with Iran

... obama, doesnt need to be "experienced" to know not to go to war

There will be a war whatever, and whoever is in charge, Bush made that happen.

How does she deserve it?

I feel like it's this:
If you want everyone to be equal, no matter how hard they work, you're a democrat.

If you believe that people work for their status, then you're republican.

This is why the Latinos will definitely vote Democrat, while the wealthiest of Americans will vote Republican.

I don't think voting for Hillary Clinton just because she could be "The first woman president" or "She deserves it" (Still don't understand how she does) is the right way to decide who to vote for.

I disagree with her views on giving citizenship to illegal immigrants.
I disagree with the fact that there should be an increased tax for wealthy Americans.

Still, you guys aren't the one voting; neither am I, but my parents voted for Romney (yesterday), and my brother voted for Ron Paul (although, doesn't look like he's going to get it)

I think a lot of people are being swept aside in a big supposed "inspiration" wave by Obama, and are looking over the fact that, as far as I'm aware anyway, he doesn't really have many policies. Clinton has the experience of being in the White House and managing some political affairs with her husband Bill, and seems more resilient and determined to do something, rather than running the risk of all style and no substance with Obama.

usa4eva
06-02-2008, 11:00 PM
Where do you get that from, its like a consensus for an "AGAINST OBAMA TACTIC"

she votes for war with Iran and Iraq

OBAMA doesnt want war with anyone of those countries, which would only get more of our own people dead.

the buzz word "experience" used with clinton is used as a tactic for avoiding Obama, its so transparent

Obama doesnt want war with Iran , Clinton does, What Experience is that?

Shaun
06-02-2008, 11:11 PM
Firstly, Iraq isn't "war" any more. Just because Obama wants to drop everything and run away from the mess we've made, does not mean that Clinton's an idiot for staying there and try to clean it up.

As for Iran, I've personally no idea on that. From what I've heard, and I read a lot of news, I haven't heard her explicitly say "WAR WITH IRAN".

And as for having "more of our own people dead", well maybe they shouldn't join the army before they go to war then. That sounds extremely inconsiderate, I know, but you should know the dangers before joining.

usa4eva
07-02-2008, 12:10 AM

Barack Obama. He's a breath of fresh air for America: someone needed to take that vital step, and he did it. Having seen some of his interviews, he also has personal first-hand experience in the issues he wants to resolve as President, and I think that greatly increases his credibilty. Furthermore, he relied on funding purely through American people, i.e. through his book. In fact, the book itself was a great idea for the American people to learn more about him, and what he is about.

I'm surprised at the turnaround in voting on this poll: however, having said that, it still seems that Hillary Clinton still has a lot of popularity. The fact is though, the Clinton name does not give a fresh start for the USA: this is a time where change is crucial, and many people see Obama as that change. He's called himself the 'underdog' on many occasions, which I agree with, because he really is proving to be the dark horse in this race.

On balance I'd vote for Hillary. I quite like Obama - tough choice. I think Obama will win for the Democrats, and McCain will win for the republicans (obviously). The thing is that many republican voters don't like McCain, because he is too centralist. Those voters won't vote for a democrat, so they may not vote at all.

Hillary is the fakest of the both.

She promises to bring the troops home pretty quickly, yet she was all for the war not so long ago. What's changed her mind? Could it be she's saying anything to get presidency?

Her healthcare plan will not be free despite what she says. It will still end costing the tax payer quite a bit of their money.

Her popularity is fading. People see right through her lies and desperation. She would be an even worse president than Bush, and that's saying something.

And I wouldn't be so sure she'll get the Texas or Ohio votes. In recent polls, Obama is closing the gap on her "popularity" in those states.

There's absolutely no proof that Clinton is lying about any of those issues. At least she's set out real plans, whereas Obama is just using his "I'm young, vibrant and exciting!" card to try and whip up the excitable people.

I think he could be a good future President, and a good Vice...but he's not experienced or mature enough, and doesn't have a backbone.

I keep on hearing this "not experienced enough" debate. He has a lot of experience. Please do some research.

Obama has a lot of ideas - ideas that can work - not like Hillary's ideas, which seem to sound great but won't really turn out great. If you actually took the time to actually research Obama's plans, you would see his plans might actually work. His plans are not impossible, unlike Hillary's.

There's a reason why Hillary is losing a lot of momentum. It's not because Obama is using his sweet talk to gain a lot of popularity, it's because people are seeing more of her "plans," and now knowing they won't probably work. It's all pipe dreams. People are starting to see right through her.

Don't get me wrong, McCain, Obama and Clinton are not great presidential candidates, but I think the whole of America needs a fresh start. Someone like Obama fits that bill.

No they aren't :conf2:

They fired some campaign worker last year for claiming that, and there's no proof whatsoever that the Hillary party are circulating that photograph.

Even so, so what? Hillary's been photographed in loads of traditional dress - it doesn't mean she adheres to any of the religions/beliefs that usually come with.

Load of Obama exaggeration, as per usual.

GiRTh

Tha article states they're trying to claim Obama is a Muslim. If Hillary doesn't know about this then she doesn't have much of a grip on her campaign.

GiRTh
27-02-2008, 04:02 PM
Also, if this is an article circulated by an independent without the Clinton campaigns knowledge then Hillary has to denounce it in order to keep a clean campaign.

Once a campaign goes negative it can never go back and if the Clinton campaign is the first to go negative then that tells me they think they're in trouble.

LONDON - A Barack Obama adviser resigned Friday after calling rival Hillary Rodham Clinton "a monster."

Samantha Power, an unpaid foreign policy adviser and Harvard professor, announced her resignation in a statement provided by the Obama campaign in which she expressed "deep regret."

"Last Monday, I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Senator Clinton and from the spirit, tenor, and purpose of the Obama campaign," she said. "And I extend my deepest apologies to Senator Clinton, Senator Obama and the remarkable team I have worked with over these long 14 months."

Well..... Hillary will not win.

Obama won Wyoming tonight, by a huge 19 points difference. So much for her comeback and her momentum.

And the delegates have been updated: Obama has 1571, Clinton has 1462 (which will change after the Wyoming result).

Please tell me, how does anyone expect Hillary to win? Because he has the popular vote and the delegate lead. Or she has is the super-delegate vote, which will he close the gap on in the next few months.

It's also convenient that Bill Clinton is talking about have them both on the ticket. Hillary knows she cannot win.

To the people raving about her wins in Ohio and Texas......, well, she had over 20 point leads in both states 4 weeks before. She was expected to win those states pretty big, so Obama could afford to lose them. She won Ohio not too bad, but she barely won Texas. Out of it all, she didn't really gain much delegates on Obama.

He's almost certain to get most of the delegates he lost back in Mississippi.

She's definitely going to win Pennsylvania, although... not by much. So yet again, Obama will not be sweating.

What I'm saying is, Obama will get mostly his lead back he lost last Tuesday this Tuesday. So her win in Ohio and "Texas" really won't count for anything.

they dont know how shes gonna win, there comments are just supposed to be a dig at the racial status of america, its a technique alot of europeans use, they dont say things up front. Please tell me how she will manage to do that?

Because she won one state - a state she was expected to win big in - all of the Hillary fans think she'll win the election. And need I remind you, Hillary was 20 plus points ahead a few months back, yet she only won by 10 points. Obama did what he had to do; he closed the gap. Obama will be more than happy with that.

She's still well behind Obama, even with the PA win. Obama will erase the PA win and the delegates she gained with a win in North Carolina, which he will dominate.

Time is not on Hillary's side. There is no way she can beat Obama. The super delegates will simply choose Obama in the end.
