According to Davina on Richard and Judy the other day, there was never any plans for her to break America.

Yeah but who looks best in a bikini.
Comes down to entertainment on TV and not over analizing a reality show.
Plus she has nice boobs lol

How do you know what questions Davina is and isn't briefed on?

Davina has a tough job some weeks, trying to deal with housemates like Charley, Shabnam, Gerry (just some from BB8), who find it difficult to shut up. While others find it difficult to even get a word out. It is necessary for Davina to interrupt, as a lot of the housemates tend to ramble and Davina wants to ask enough questions as possible.

'Davina' was an experiment show, and was never considered a "flop" by BBC. It was never going to do amazing in the ratings due to the competition from other stations.

ITV noticed this, and, despite Dermots subordinate position on BBLB, was awareded presenter of X Factor 2007, replacing Kate Thornton.
Dermot was chosen due to his lack of personality, so to not take the attention away from the singers. He is very plain, bland on XF. But I suppose, if this is what you like on a TV show then fair enough.

I agree he really is a very good presenter, all I said was i missed Davina....Good God man chill out!!!!

Jacs, would you elaborate on your opening question? Or is this simply too difficult?
My explanation is as follows:
Davina is a poor presenter, often neglecting to ask the evictee the questions she was briefed on, as is evident when she becomes distracted via her earpiece, which is clearly the producer telling her what to do. She also speaks over the evictee, interrupting them at every opportunity, which rathers takes the emphasis away from them whilst directing it at her. She also has a large ego, made bigger through her own hype.
When taken out of the BB setting and permitted to do her own show, the end result was a flop.
ITV noticed this, and, despite Dermots subordinate position on BBLB, was awareded presenter of X Factor 2007, replacing Kate Thornton.
This was clearly the correct decision as Dermot is a skilled presenter, who knows just what is, and isn't, ''enough'' in terms of allowing people to speak, plus articulating the show he presents cleary and interestingly to the viewer at home.
He is a very good presenter in my opinion, much better than Davina, and much more effective than he is given credit for.
Simon Cowell sees his potential, and this was a wise move indeed.
I suspect Davina is boycotting BB at the moment due to embarrassment at not gaining ITV's attention and her desperate (but probably failed) attempts at breaking America.
So Davina hasn't had many hits since her presenting debut back in the early 90's? Its only in the past year or so that she has started to fail. She hasn't attempted to break America yet, and ITV go through phases of their primetime Saturday presenters. Davina was one of them between 2001 and 2004, succeeded by Cat Deeley who was succeeded by Kate Thornton.
Dermot is an appalling presenter. He interrupted Jade far too much and I'm no fashion expert but his dress sense is ridiculous. He didn't speak to the house properly with authority in the way Davina did and failed to acknowledge what Jade wanted to say, but rushed through the interview. He didn't even tie the interview up properly. When on BBLB, his personal preferences get in the way far too much. He shouldn't be allowed to present the main BB. I know Davina is far from impartial but Dermot raises the bar.
He was awful on X Factor, stumbling through his lines and making loads of small mistakes that add up was well as unnecessarily padding out his lines with erms and pauses.
If Dermot is that good, he wouldn't have inherited the name "Dermot O'Dreary".
Davina is much better, and I can't wait for her BB9 return. Dermot for me is proof that BB cannot work without Davina.

Dermot handled Jade pretty well on her eviction night, and he has always handled the evictees excellently when they appear on BBLB too.
Dermot handed Jade horrible IMO. The interview was a mess, but I made exceptions because it was his first one on an eviction night. He has done well on BBLB, but by that stage housemates have had time to reflect on there eviction and maybe not as nervous as they would be on eviction night.

Like when she failed to tell Jason (BB5) that Nadia was really a man on his eviction night, despite him being the most important housemate to tell since he believed him/her outright. We missed his reaction and questions she could have asked him.
Actually, Davina and producers were asked to not tell the ex-HM during there interviews anymore after requests from viewers and Nadia's friends. Also, a bit insensitive seeing as it's Nadia's big night.

Lack of personality? Are we speaking about the same man here? Dermot gets the mix between allowing the evictee to speak whilst maintaining control of the show down to an artwork. He really is a very good presenter, and again, more than he is credited for.
Dermot himself has said that this is the reason he was chosen by Simon.

No I don't miss her because Dermot makes a good job for me, he's funny to watch and it was his time to shine for good and after all, Davina will come back.

I don't miss her, because I prefer Dermot's way of hosting the show and interviewing the housemates so much more.

No, I prefer Dermot. He's v good at improvising things that arent meant to happen whereas Davina always seems quite flustered or does not know what to do when the evictee says something there not meant to.

Well it is a forum of opinion, and her music is certainly more lively than Davinas presenting skills!

Just random little note to end this sudden forming Cascada LoveHate thread. She just won German artist of the year, so she must have some sort of fanbase.

In your opinion.
I still think she is a decent presenter and an integral part of Big Brother.
Edit ;; And for the record, I can't stand Cascada.
Davina is also hot for a 40 year old. We were discussing the gender of the woman in Cascada when the video came on in the canteen at college :colour: They also remix decent songs from the 80's and makes them sound worse than the crazy frog (which I loved :laugh2:)
But anyway, Davina as a presenter. Big Brother without Davina would be just a drastic and bad change as Big Brother without the eye, Big Brother without the theme tune, Big Brother without Marcus etc.

I wish davina would come to usa and host our big brother
I love Davina. I miss her so much, she may not be a great interviewer but I love her enthusiasm. BB wouldn't be the same without her.

It's really odd having Dermot do Davina's job. Then again I think of Celebrity Big Brother as upscale and thus Davina fits upscale while Dermot is the guinea pig.
