GMTV's Michael Underwood was devastated last night after a fall during training ruled him out of the competition.
Michael was learning his new routine during a training session with partner Melanie at the studio rink, when he fell awkwardly on his ankle while coming to a halt on the ice.
As he was rushed to hospital in an ambulance, Michael hoped that it was just a bad sprain. But after X-rays, the plucky presenter was distraught to discover that it was a clean break.
Speaking on GMTV this morning, a downcast Michael explained that it had been just a standard move that had led to his injury:
"I'd like to say that I was attempting some amazing triple axel or something, but I was just trying to stop!" he sighed. "... I was absolutely devastated. I'm trying to get it all in perspective."
An show spokesperson said: "After breaking his ankle last night, Michael Underwood can no longer compete in Dancing on Ice. The whole team are sad to see Michael leave the competition in this way and wish him a speedy recovery."
