View Full Version : Making it a year+ would bring it back to a social experiment.

If BB was lengthened to a year or over it and was made back to basics it would leave it to be a social experiment again.
We have never seen how the housemates handle this long. The longest we've ever seen is 3 months.
I think it could be interesting to see how they develop being in the house for this long.
Thoughts?
So we throw up a show everybody has seen in 2001 except make it 12 months or longer and expect them to accept it in 2008 after the disaster of a 12 months Big Brother has had?

Correction - we've also already seen it in 2000.
Well then, it doesn've have to be back to basics.
Although I see no point on defending it, since it was more of a thought rather than an idea I think they should go through with.

Which makes it better? Im not surprised you have seemingly given up already. I dont know how one goes about defending ripping a show from 8 years ago , extending its lenght to over 12 months , and expecting people to watch it after the rubbish 12 months Big Brother has already had.
Besides , lenght wont matter for squat if the series itself is rubbish.
They can't even sustain interest for 12 weeks, let alone 12 months.

I agree with the back of the social experiment because since BB6, I miss it. But 12 months is too long for UK, it worked in Germany twice because for them it's a phenomeon, like the most waited show in Germany.

It didn't work for Germany, and it was really bad ratings and the second series was cut short. If Germany, which is IMO the home BB, cannot do a suscessful year long BB then nobody can.
However, I wouldn't mind seeing BB last for 100 days. When BB launched it lasted for 106 days - it wa sthe UK that cut it down to just 64 for BB1. They did up to 94 days for BB8, so I don't see whats wrong with doing it for just anoher week.
12 months is wayyy too long TBH i dont think id watch.

I thought it was bigger over here. Or it was when it was really, really big (BB3).
Plus, there ratings have went down to an average of 1 million with a population of 20 million more people so I fail to see your logic.

Of course at the end the ratings were bad and they decided to finish the season but they have done a whole year ! And BB was born in Netherlands, well the name and the concept (nominations, evictions)

Making it a year will FINISH the show, no doubt about it. I say 4 months is maximum at the position its at now...
