BIG Brother couple Tom McDermott and Claire Strutton are splitting up. The pair , who fell in love on the set of the reality show , have revealed that their four-year romance is over . Tom, 35, has moved out of their home in Marbella, leaving Claire and their son Pierce. 'We were arguing and decided that it was best to have some time apart,' Claire, 29, tells this week's Closer magazine. 'We've both been very upset and it all started around Christmas which made it even more painful.' The couple were thrown together on the first Big Brother when Claire was brought in to replace Nasty Nick. But they didn't date until after the show finished with Craig Phillips the winner. Their romance blossomed and they moved to Spain to start a family and run a property business. Claire, a former florist, has not ruled out reconciliation, adding: 'We're getting on betterwho knows?', so

This is sad, of all the ex-BBers I thought they were the ones to get it right and move away from the spotlight to get on with their lives and raising their son together.

There's an article in The Sun today on Tom and Claire....

BIG Brother lovers Tom McDermott and Claire Strutton have split — after starting a dream life in the sun and having a baby.

Tom, 35, has left their villa on Spain’s Costa del Sol following a series of festering rows.

Distraught Claire, 29, admitted: “We were arguing and decided that it was best to have some time apart.

“We’ve both been very upset and it all started around Christmas, which made it even more painful.”

The pair — who met on the Channel 4 reality show’s first series in 2000 — fell for each other AFTER the cameras stopped rolling.

Claire entered the house as a replacement for Nasty Nick Bateman and made a beeline for scouser Craig Phillips, the eventual winner.

Quiet Ulsterman Tom fancied Mel Hill and the pair snogged on camera.

But the “romance” never came to anything — and he kept in touch with Claire after the show ended.

The pair began dating and Claire later fell pregnant with son Pierce, now two-and-a-half.

But with Big Brother 5 starting on May 28, Claire — who sells property with Tom — is warning contestants NOT to go looking for love on the show.
