View Full Version : Is a girl ever going to win Big Brother again?

The only female winner has been Kate Lawler, and that was four years ago. It'd be a breath of fresh of air if a girl won the show, don't you think?

Edit: I meant in the general shows, ie. BB1, BB6, etc. Not CBB. And Nadia was a man, so it doesn't count.

What about Nadia? Chantelle and that women who won CBB last year.

I hope a famle wins BB9

Maybe next year.

I think Kate was the best winner of all time.
And she's the only female winner to really win on her own merit.

Nadia - was a man,
Chantelle - non-celebrity in a celeb house,
Shilpa - racist row.

So yeah. As much as I <3Chantelle and Nadia, Kate won on her own, no gimmick or issue to aid her.

I think we could have another girl, but it'd have to be someone really likeable, and someone like Amy, who'd stand up to the guys.

No. The public are 'Men's bitches'.

If a girl does win, they will need to tone down their feminine ways. Wearing too much make up, wearing bikinis, flirting, being too close to a male HM and almost doing anything at all is considered a crime for a female HM. They have to be as inoffensive as possible and even then they may not win, look at Amy. Females are scrutinized so much more on the show than males are, which is why it's much more difficult for them to win.

Totally agree with wasted.

I dont think a female will ever win BB unless they appeal to the dominant female voters. It's a shame really. I think the female HM's in Hijack were more worthy winners than the men. Especially Anthony, but the young girl voters thought he was fit so he quicly became the favourite. What does that say about that way we vote for these shows?

I Reckon a girl will. I Dont think the public choose a man to win on purpose. It could just be that the males are slightly more entertaining(not in johns case.)

Ive got a feeling that a girl will win one more time and that will be in BB9.I was right the last 3 times when males won and i predicted Chantelle and Shilpa winning so hopefully im right.

Really random but one of the HLs for me is Emilia getting stuck in the cardboard.See, girls should win when they deserve it.

I cant understand why men usually win big brother. I guess its the women vote that finally nails it. Women vote for men basically and why not?

JeanP!
29-01-2008, 09:42 PM
For example: Emilia deserved to win instead of John

*mazedsalv**
29-01-2008, 09:43 PM
There was just a little ammount that John won by, so Emilia could of been the first non celeb winner(excluding Chantelle) to win since BB3.Does Nadia count?

Kate Lawler went to my 6th form lol how grand lol

hmmm, i think Amy should have won.
i loved Latoya.
I'd love to see a black girl win it personally. Then again Makosi could have but hmmm her antics lol funny!!!
Every other person has: gay, straight, white male, white female, black male.

It is very hard for women to win. Women find it harder to vote for other girls and criticise them too much.

I don't understand the emphasis people place on having male/ female winners? Why does it matter that there have been more male winners? It’s like the fact there has been more male winners has to mean something to some people- that women must have been jealous or whatever, when it probably doesn’t boil down to anything other than chance. ie. all the male housemates they put in happened to be more entertaining in most peoples eyes than the women...

It’s not a reflection of society as a whole. I mean, how many have been in the house out of the main 8 series now? Way under 200. In a country with a population of 60 mil, I wouldn’t read too much into it tbh! and lets be fair, most of them aren’t exactly your average person off the street anyway...

I think women are under much more scrutiny in the house than men. There has only ever been one female winner of BB and only one female winner of x-Factor. These being the two biggest reality TV competitions for the public. Surely that doesn't happen by accident!

I think at the end of the day though, women will vote for who they think is a good all rounder though. if a pretty girl, is a NICE girl, with slight bitch tendencies - women like to see people they can relate to. (people may read this and think of me slating Emilia in my thread lol, but like i said before... shes discounted because i think that was a mistake lol) i do not feel women will just think... im not voting for her because she is pretty. I think women look for a deserved winner. And if they dont. they should!!!

i agree with your way of thinking but there are women out there who see females on bb in there bikinis and with there long hair and make up,flirting with guys in the house and reguardless of wether or not they are making a good housemate will immediatley say-get them out! However it seems to me that the quirky housemate always wins ,the one who stands out from the rest but it likeable at the same time as well as harmless.

i agree with your last line. Maybe that is the reason why women dont win though because they do not know how to be HARMLESS... honest - without offending but funny without being crass or ladish.

its a hard knock life lol

If a girl is honest she is called a bitch. Emilia simply answered Matt and James question yet people didn't hesitate to call her a bitch.

I think the only way a women will ever win BB again if she is like Kate (BB3), a guy's girl, and not too much girly, or just do a all female houesmates like BB8, but with out the male HM's.

GiRTh
30-01-2008, 05:23 PM
I agree but I dont think Kate would win if she entered BB in this day and age.

I think women are wayyy more emotional than men and they cause most of the drama in the house and as a result some people choose not to like them. You get more firery female characters than male ones.

Hope that makes sense:conf:

Yeah it does lol I got what you are sayin, and you are right. In most BB's isn't always been the women who casuses the drama and the agruements.

fiery women are great, you dont want a passive one (Latoya back in the day)
but then you dont want an extremely in your face one. Doesnt work and the joke is, as women we dont know how to control our emotions (like you said supernoodles) so you normally just get one or the other

I think they will, but my phsycic senses say not in BB9.

fiery women are great, they make big brother what it is just look at the likes of Aisleyne,Nikki and Grace in bb7,love em or loathe em they contributed alot to that yrs bb

I think as well men in BB can get away with alot more then women. For example when Emilia would do her execeriese (which she had to do) in them tight short hot pants lol at first people thought wow that's really good, then some people started saying she was doing it for the cameras (bit hard to not do it for the cameras when they are everywhere) and she did it for the guys to avoid nominations (not true as at times she would do it on her own) also some people would call her a sl*t, slapper etc, yet if Anthony did his traning with no top on, none would bat an eye lid, if fact most people were like, wow he is so fit doing that, yet these same people were the ones saying Em did it to avoid noms and for attention, double standards. plus in most BB's women get called sl*ts, slappers, doing for a attention and for the camera etc if they dare walk around in a bikki, but if guys walk around with no top on, as I said none bats an eye lid.

But, thats life though.
Just think of it like girls goodies are more sacred than guys lol problem solved.

Kate..

i hope so but i doubt it

a nice guy is soooo much easier to like than a nice woman!

Women usually make the most entertaining and controversial housemates. Where would BB be without housemates like Makosi, JadeBB3, Nikki, Charley, Michelle, Aisleyne, Saskia etc? If a girl is nice and down to earth she is called boring, if a man is he is usually one of the favourites to win. It is blantant double standards not just on BB, but on other shows decided by public votes.
