Beginning with the second season the HouseGuests compete to become Head of Household or HoH. The Head of Household is responsible for nominating two HouseGuests for eviction.[10] During the Live Eviction show, HouseGuests individually go into the Diary Room and cast their vote to evict. Julie then revels the results to the House after all eligible HouseGuests have cast their vote.[11] When two HouseGuests were left, the evicted HouseGuests voted for the winner and in the event of a tie the public would have broken the tie.[12]
During season three a new power was introduced called the Power of Veto (PoV). The Power of Veto winner can choose to veto one of the Head of Household's initial nominations. The winner is also protected from becoming a replacement nominee for the week.[13] Originally, the Power of Veto was silver and if a nominee won the Power of Veto the nominee could not save themselves. The "Golden" Power of Veto, introduced in the last veto competition in season three, could be won by a nominee and used to save themselves. The Golden Power of Veto is now the standard veto since season four.[14][15]
The fourth season introduced the Big Brother Jury, sometimes referred to as the "Jury of Seven". The Jury is made up of the final seven evicted HouseGuests. As each member of the Jury is evicted from the House they are sequestered in a separate house. The jury members are not allowed to watch the show except for segments which include all of the HouseGuests, for example the nominations and Power of Veto ceremonies. The jury members are not shown any Diary Room interviews or any footage involving strategy or twists to the game. The Big Brother Jury votes to determine the winner of Big Brother each season.

-Beginning of the week the housemates compete in the Head of Household task. The winner becomes HOH and gets luxuries such as a private bedroom, luxury food budget and personal items from home. The HOH also has to nominate two people for eviction. (the current HOH cannot compete in two HOH Comps in a row)
-The HOH reveals his/hers nominations and then a couple of days later six housemates compete in the Power of Veto competition. The six housemates that are eligible to compete are the HOH, the two nominees and three other housemates chosen at random.
-Who ever wins the POV has the power to take one of the nominees off of the chopping block. If a nominee is removed from the block then the HOH must name a replacement nominee (the POV winner cannot be nominated).
-Then at the end of the week the rest of the housemates (except the HOH) go to the Diary Room and cast their vote to evict. The nominee with the most votes is evicted.
-When it gets down to the last 9 housemates, every time a new housemate is evicted they become a member of the Big Brother Jury. They are sent to a sequester house, away from the outside world, they get to watch select footage of the house (competitions, nominations, evictions) but aren't allowed to see private conversations or Diary Room chats. When the Jury has it's 7 members they vote on who they want to win out of the final two housemates left in the BB house.
The twist this year is 'Soulmates' so the housemates will be competing in pairs, they'll play in the HOH comps together, they'll be nominated together and evicted together. (this is suspected only to last the first couple of weeks and then it will go into the original game where everybody plays individually)

Nope, you'll have to wait until the launch. Nothing is live, the episodes are the recap from the 2 or 3 days between 2 episodes. And htey all have pretty much a theme: Eviction (Thursday), Nominations (Sunday) and Veto (on Tuesday)

BBUSA doesn't work like the UK format, no highlight shows since series 2.
See my previous posts for more infos.

Yeah there are only three shows a week that last an hour and they cover highlights from the previous few days.
This year the Tuesday show will be POV, the Wednesday show will be Eviction and HOH and the Sunday show will be Nominations.

i totally agree Barbie big bro, It sounds a bit too complicated and a bit naff....but i will definately be more appreicative of our BB...
BUT....
What if BBUSA is better than expected and is absoloutley brilliant...and then we get to BB9 which is a HUGE let down in comparison......what will we think of BBUK then? or even bigger....what will happen to BBUK?

Don't judge it by how it sounds, you should watch. For years I thought the same as you and never watched it because I thought, "it sounds corny", but last year I finally watched it and was amazed by how good it was and since I have watched every season, it really is great and it won't make you appreciate our series more it will probably make you think how bad our series is in comparison (recent series I mean, our BB did use to be good).

The format may seem confusing on paper, but the best thing to do is watch for a week or two and you'll most likely have a good understanding of it then.
When I first watched BB US, I had no idea that the format would be so different, but I was able to pick up on it easily.

So there is no public voting in america?
and are there not eviction interviews if they go into the jury?
:)

There is no public voting for the evictions but it still involved in some twists and tasks.
And there are eviction interview for anyone, jury or not.
