Well BBUK only gets around 3-4 million viewers, but obviously the UK isn't as big as America. But BBUSA is still pretty popular show and does fairly well in the ratings, for example Lost gets around 10-11 million viewers, so that kind of puts things in contrast.
It's only the really big shows like American Idol that get around 30 million viewers.

I wonder if the ratings will be different to what they're normally like since it's on earlier this year.
excluding BB8 and BB3 BBUK gets 4.5 - 5.0 on average out of 60 million and BBUSA gets 9 million out of 300 million so im just saying its not as popular.and yeah i know most shows in the US never pass 20 million

Well every show pales in comparison to the not-so-mighty Super Bowl. It got 140m viewers this year.
"Preliminary ratings have been posted for Big Brother 9 and they aren’t pretty. American Idol dominated the night and easily winning it. In the second hour of Idol, the Biggest Loser came in second at 4.9/7 share (compared to Idol’s 17.7/26 share). Big Brother 9 was third for the 9PM slot at 4.6/7.
Don’t understand what that means? Me either. But we should be getting a press release soon detailing how great Big Brother 9 did when in fact it lost hard to American Idol.
Who’s decision was it to put it up against the juggernaut that is Idol? And on two nights! We’ll see how this plays out in the long run. Note to producers: Stick with Summer editions of BB."

i think it mean it got 4.9 million

Those ratings on BBAccess are wrong, those a shares not ratings.
Ratings are now in:
“Although this first winter edition of Big Brother (Viewers: #3: 7.33 million; A18-49: #3, 2.7/ 6) dipped by 4.39 million viewers from the NCIS encore, it did manage to build by 17 percent among adults 18-49. So, there is still interest in the normally summer guilty pleasure.”
That is just 0.7 down on last years premier and seeing as it was going up against American Idol this year those ratings are great. It increased as well in the 18-49 bracket. Good stuff, hopefully this keeps up and CBS make sure it's a 3 month series.

I watched all of the first one and like half of the second :)

Better ratings than I expected for E4. Seeing as it was hardly advertised and not many people knew about it, I was expecting less than 100,000. So yeah 300,000 odd is very good.
I've just finished watching both of these on Sky+ and I liked it but it was very OTT and sensationalised. I don't think I'm too keen on the gameplayer format and I don't think I want it to come over to Britain.
I did expect the ratings to be about 150,000.
Just to put ratings in perspective with comparison for the rest of the programs on the night.
For premiere night.
Overall for the night the top 5.
#1 American Idol 29.9 million Fox
#2 NCIS (encore) 11.7 million CBS

#1 American Idol 12.2 Fox
#2 Biggest Loser 3.0 NBC

You guys get Deal or No Deal ! :D
Yes & it's huge here. Howie Mandel hosts it. They still haven't given out the million, but until someone find its they keep adding more cases with $1 million in it & I think they're up to like half of them being million dollar cases.

I'm Surprised DOND gets like 10million over there, it would never get that much here.
DOND currently airs for 90 minutes on Mondays & an hour on Wednesdays. In the past, it has aired on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays for an hour. Then this fall, I believe a daily version will air with Arsenio Hall hosting that & Howie Mandel remaining host of the primetime version.

What does Demos mean? lol Well if they moved Big Brother to nights so they dont overlap American Idol, they would do a lot better and get far better raitings no doubt.
It use to be on Thursdays but they moved it to Wednesdays because of Survivor, so they had to change it which really sucks.

But the issue remains the same...one of these 2 shows will get bad ratings because of American Idol, which makes incredible ratings, almost the best in its history.
Demos, are those between 18-49. The number means that percent of all 18-49 year olds watched it. They are the age group that are most likely to buy products. So that age group is most important to companies when they decide to buy ad space.
Here are the household numbers for the season (the first number means that out of all households, that percent watch it on average. The second one is of all households currently watching TV what percent is watching it.)
CBS 06.6/11
FOX 06.3/10
ABC 05.9/10
NBC 05.2/09
CW 01.6/03
As for the demos
FOX 4.0
ABC 3.0
NBC 2.9
CBS 2.8
CW 1.0
As you can see CBS has a lot of problems with the 18-49 year old age group. Excluding Sunday (because the ratings haven't come in yet) here is how the CBS shows ranked in the demo. (out of 52 programs)
9 Survivor 4.2 CBS Thursday
10 Two and a Half Men 3.9 CBS Monday
15 Without a Trace 3.3 CBS Thursday
18 New Adventures of Old Christine 3.0 CBS Monday
19 CSI 3.0 CBS Thursday
24 Big Brother 2.6 CBS Tuesday
26 CSI: Miami 2.5 CBS Monday
28 Criminal Minds 2.3 CBS Wednesday
29 CSI: NY 2.3 CBS Wednesday
30 Jericho 2.2 CBS Tuesday
33 How I Met Your Mother 2.1 CBS Monday
34 NCIS 2.1 CBS Tuesday
35 Big Brother 2.1 CBS Wednesday
38 Welcome to the Captain 1.8 CBS Monday
The Big Brother that did bad was the eviction, but the entire thing had to air against Idol.

If they moved it away from AI I will guarantee that it will get higher ratings
eg.BB8 went up aggainst Britains Got talent in the UK, BB averages around 2.1-2.5 million, but then when BGT finished it went back up to 3.7-3.9 million so if they change BB's slot in the US, It would proabbaly get a million more viewers or more.

I completely agree, it's bad luck for the producers but they should have known American Idol is a huge success in USA so I'm just wondering why they did this. But at the same time, Survivor is and always be more popular than Big Brother so they couldn't take the risk to put Survivor on wednesday against American Idol.

Ok I've waited to officially make up my mind about Big Brother was doing in terms of ratings until the DVR ratings came out. In the summer based on recollection Big Brother usually had all 3 editions rank in the top 10. Well the numbers are out for the first week. All 3 editions ranked in the top 20. The eviction of Joshuah/Sharon which disastrously aired against Idol was the 7th most DVRed program of the week, with a 31% increase in viewership thanks to it. That was the biggest raise of all programs. The premiere was the 9th most DVRed program of the week. It saw a 25% increase thanks to DVR. The first nomination ceremony was the 16th most DVRed program of the week. That saw a 23% ratings increase thanks to that.

Doing alot better than last Thursday. I think around 150,000 is really good for the show.

Thursday:
Part 1: 166,400
Part 2: 124,600
Thought I should bump this with some good news.
Sunday's episode was overrun due to the golf - however this benefited it and as a result the show recieved an average of around 9million viewers. This is Big Brother 9's highest rating to date.
