Who is Sin in Final Fantasy X?

Sin is the big , whale like badass who has terrorised spira for thousands of years. Only the final summoning may vanquish it [which was done by Yuna].

Jecht , Tidus father of course. But sin was not always Jecht and vice versa , seeing as both Jecht and Tidus were created as part of the dream Zanarkand , 1000 years prior to the events of Final Fantasy X.
