TALK show favourite Trisha Goddard is reeling after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The mum-of-two faces a gruelling bout of chemotherapy after a lump was discovered during a routine mammogram three weeks ago.

The 50-year-old star is at home in Norfolk with her husband Peter Gianfrancesco and their two children, Billie, 18 and Madison, 13.

Her husband Peter said the news had left the family “stressed and exhausted.”

Trisha had already had a tumour from her breast removed when doctors also took lymph nodes samples for a biopsy.

Initial results were positive, but doctors told Trisha they fear the cancer has spread on Saturday.

Trisha now faces another op to remove further lymph nodes, glands commonly found under your arms.

Staff at Trisha’s production company Townhouse - which makes her Channel 5 daily show, Trisha - were informed this morning.

Townhouse's managing director Malcolm Allsop told 80 staff that Trisha will be absent for two weeks.

One in nine British women get breast cancer - with 41,000 women diagnosed every year.

The diagnosis is the latest trauma to hit Trisha, who has made no secret of her troubled past.

She was beaten as a child by her parents and had a series of abusive boyfriends after suffering eating disorders as a teenager.

Her schizophrenic sister Linda committed suicide by pouring petrol over herself and Trisha then married a closet gay man who died of AIDS.

Meanwhile, her second husband betrayed her while she was pregnant with their second daughter Madison and she suffered a nervous breakdown.

Trisha admitted she was “suicidal” and spent weeks in a psychiatric hospital and even now calls herself “a smiling depressive”.

She underwent therapy and was on anti-depressants - but weaned herself off them before she launched her TV career in the UK in 1998.

Trisha, who also suffers from anxiety and panic attacks, admits she has "an obsessive streak that I'm constantly battling".
