Her second single from "E=MC2", which is released today. I love this song, probably my favourite from the album. It's so emotional, and it's great how even though its about the passing of her father, she still manages to make it appeal to everyone.

Thoughts?
An absolutely beautiful song. The lyrics are amazing. It will touch a lot of people. It even made me emotional when I listened to the lyrics.

Great song but it's completely and utterly a way for her to stay on top of the charts; it's so basic. Otherwise, good song from a relatiely lacklustre album (I'm not a Mariah fan, but she definitely tried to copy The Emancipation of Mimi, a great album).

I completely disagree. I think E=MC2 is a superior album to Mimi in almost every way. All the tracks on the album are single worthy. I think Mimi was too hip hop oriented, which can work, but not on a whole album.
"Bye Bye" is not basic at all IMO, it has some of the most beautiful lyrics and it will touch a lot of people.
The best lyrics from the album however are:
"We clinkin' glasses,
Compliments of the club,
Raise they status,
So you know they show us love,
Everywhere we go,
They gon' flock,
Them boys migrate to where it's hot.
(It's hot, it's hot)"

^I can't believe she "cried" at the end.

I know. Her interview with Oprah, when she was talking about her dad was very emotional.

Not YouTube'd yet, but I'm sure it will be up by the morning. A nice simple video for such a beautiful song. I think this will be her 19th US number 1.

I meant basic in that the structure of the actual song has little complexity; it sticks with chorus-verse, which gets boring after a while. Whilst I'm not saying that E=MC2 is a bad album, it's certainly not Mariah's best. For someone who raves about her own voice, she alters it incredibly on Migrate. Touch My Body is addictive but it's a flat song. The only song that's really a Mariah song is I Wish You Well. If you want a Mariah album, try Butterfly, it's by far her best.

I didn't say it was her best, just better than Emancipation.
