Its because its impossible for everyone to have the same opinion so there will be debate, but some posters on this forum are too immature to realise that so launch attacks on people rather than arguing their point. This usually happens when someone doesn't have enough evidence to back up their argument in the first place.

If you think this place is bad, try reading/posting on DSBB/DSXF when the series is on.

Yeah. A personal opinion that happens to be in direct opposition to another members personal opinion. Thus , you have an argument/debate on your hands.

People need to stop shying away from a good old fashioned debate. Theirs nothing wrong with it. Yes their are petty arguments , but they are few and far between. Posh and private schools aren't all they are cracked up to be. I was supposed to go to one, looked round a few and just thought "nah". They're all academically driven and thats the impression I got on visits, and none of them had social lives. I came out with decent grades.
