Did The Prophet Muhammad split the moon as a miracle?? is there proof?
The Qur’an refers to this miracle in the following verses:
The Hour has approached, and the moon split. But whenever they see a sign, they turn away and say, ‘This is evident magic’. (al-Qamar, 54.1-2)
This unbelievable, was that crack on the moon done by Prophet Mohammed.

We discussed this on here (www.bautforum.com) a while back and the short answer is NO

It's what religion is all about. So if Mary had a baby but still virgin so why Muhammad could not split the moon ?
It's all about faith, your culture, the traditions. There is no proof for everything in religion, you either trust it or not.

This is where (http://www.bautforum.com/against-mainstream/32175-moon-separation-2-parts.html) we discussed this on that other forum.
Ultimately that thread was locked due to a violation I believe of forum rules concerning religion, but you may find some useful stuff there.
I remember asking the guy who runs the local Halal fish and chip shop about this, and he is convinced that Apollo 11 discovered proof this happened and that Neil Armstrong converted to Islam afterwards, (Which is actually not true, he did not convert)

Quran Chapter 54- The Moon (Al-Qamar)
.
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
[54:1] The Hour has come closer, and the moon has split.
[54:2] Then they saw a miracle; but they turned away and said, "Old magic."
[54:3] They disbelieved, followed their opinions, and adhered to their old traditions.
[54:4] Sufficient warnings have been delivered to alert them.
[54:5] Great wisdom; but all the warnings have been in vain.
[54:6] Ignore them; the day will come when the caller will announce a terrible disaster.
[54:7] With their eyes humiliated, they come out of the graves like scattered locusts.
[54:8] As they respond to the caller, the disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult day."
[54:9] The people of Noah disbelieved before them. They disbelieved our servant and said, "Crazy!" He was persecuted.
[54:10] He implored his Lord, "I am oppressed; grant me victory."
[54:11] We then opened the gates of the sky, pouring water.
[54:12] And we caused springs to gush out of the earth. The waters met to effect a predetermined decision.
[54:13] We carried him on a watercraft made of logs and ropes.
[54:14] It ran under our watchful eyes; a reward for one who was rejected.
[54:15] We have set it up as a lesson. Does any of you wish to learn?
[54:16] How terrible was My retribution after the warnings!
[54:17] We made the Quran easy to learn. Does any of you wish to learn?
[54:18] `Aad disbelieved. Consequently, how terrible was My retribution after the warnings.
[54:19] We sent upon them violent winds, on a day of continuous misery.
[54:20] It tossed the people around as if they were decayed palm tree trunks.
[54:21] How terrible was My retribution after the warnings!
[54:22] We made the Quran easy to learn. Does any of you wish to learn?
[54:23] Thamoud rejected the warnings.
[54:24] They said, "Shall we follow one of us; a human being? We will then go astray, then end up in Hell.
[54:25] "Did the message come down to him, instead of us? He is a flagrant liar."
[54:26] They will find out tomorrow who the flagrant liar is.
[54:27] We are sending the camel as a test for them. Watch them and be patient.
[54:28] Inform them that the water shall be divided among them; (the camel) shall be allowed to drink on her designated day.
[54:29] But they persuaded their friend to kill (the camel), and he obliged.
[54:30] Consequently, how terrible was My retribution! They have been warned.
[54:31] We sent upon them one blow, whereupon they became like harvested hay.
[54:32] We made the Quran easy to learn. Does any of you wish to learn?
[54:33] The people of Lot rejected the warnings.
[54:34] We showered them with rocks. Only Lot's family was saved at dawn.
[54:35] We blessed him and his family; we thus reward the appreciative.
[54:36] He warned them about our requital, but they ridiculed the warnings.
[54:37] They negotiated with him about his guests; we blinded them. Suffer My retribution; you have been warned.
[54:38] Early the next morning, a devastating retribution struck them.
[54:39] Suffer My retribution; you have been warned.
[54:40] We made the Quran easy to learn. Does any of you wish to learn?
[54:41] Pharaoh's people were warned.
[54:42] They rejected all our signs. Consequently, we requited them as an Almighty, Omnipotent should.
[54:43] Are your disbelievers better than those disbelievers? Have you been absolved by the scripture?
[54:44] Perhaps they think, "We will be the winners."
[54:45] All of them will be defeated; they will turn around and flee.
[54:46] The Hour is awaiting them, and the Hour is far worse and more painful.
[54:47] Certainly, the guilty are astray, and will end up in Hell.
[54:48] They will be dragged into the hellfire, forcibly. Suffer the agony of retribution.
[54:49] Everything we created is precisely measured.
[54:50] Our commands are done within the blink of an eye.
[54:51] We annihilated your counterparts. Does any of you wish to learn?
[54:52] Everything they did is recorded in the scriptures.
[54:53] Everything, small or large, is written down.
[54:54] Surely, the righteous have deserved gardens and rivers.
[54:55] In a position of honor, at an Omnipotent King.

chapter 54 Al Qhamar(Moon ) verse 1 is about the exact time that the first American astronauts left the Moon surface in international time of 17: 54:1 with 21 Kilo of Moon Rocks.
In this Quran it predicted the year the time that the man will land on the moon, this unbelievable.

Anyway, Its all down to coinsidence. I guess it could be compared to Nostradamus's predictions.

Rather than worry about a split moon we should be more concerned about the split personalities that write such garbage....

Could it not just be a metaphor for something else? Or maybe I've been studying too much English lately and am constantly looking for alternative meanings.
After all, every single Prophet has been said to have performed some sort of miracle. There has not been a prophet since the last Prophet Muhammad, so clearly we cannot speculate but simply choose whether or not we want to follow their teachings.

You should only ever be taught by those whose qualifications you know and can trust because they have a track record of knowledge.
What track record of knowledge does any so called Prophet have from ancient times when knowledge was scarce..!!!!
History is full of individulas who claim what they say is pure and right and truthful. Believe them at your peril......Just looking at the state of the world tells a story about the wisdom of believing religious historians or so called Prophets.

Yes and in Islamic religion they believe all those prophets and their miracles, but they dont agree that those prophets ever claimed divinity.
Another startling claim in the Koran is the shape of the Earth in Chapter 79 verse 30 says "He made the earth egg-shaped", then it repeats on the following next verse, " From it, He produced its own water and pasture".

THE SPHERICAL SHAPE OF THE EARTH
In early times, people believed that the earth is flat. For centuries, men were
afraid to venture out too far, lest they should fall off the edge. Sir Francis
Drake was the first person who proved that the earth is spherical when he
sailed around it in 1597. Consider the following Qur’aanic verse regarding
the alternation of day and night: “Seest thou not that Allah merges Night
into Day And He merges Day into Night?” [Al-Qur’aan 31:29]
Merging here means that the night slowly and gradually changes to day and
vice versa. This phenomenon can only take place if the earth is spherical. If
the earth was flat, there would have been a sudden change from night to day
and from day to night.
The following verse also alludes to the spherical shape of the earth: “He
created the heavens And the earth In true (proportions): He makes the
Night coil the Day, and the Day coil the Night.” [Al-Qur’aan
39:5]
The Arabic word used here is Kawwara meaning ‘to overlap’ or ‘to coil’– the
way a turban is wound around the head. The overlapping or coiling of the day
and night can only take place if the earth is spherical.
The earth is not exactly round like a ball, but geo-spherical i.e. it is flattened
at the poles. The following verse contains a description of the earth’s shape:
“And the earth, moreover, Hath He made egg shaped.” 2 [Al-Qur’aan
79:30]
The Arabic word for egg here is dahaha, which means an ostrich-egg. The
shape of an ostrich-egg resembles the geo-spherical shape of the earth. Thus
the Qur’aan correctly describes the shape of the earth, though the prevalent
notion when the Qur’aan was revealed was that the earth is flat.

Isaiah 40:22 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=isaiah%2040:22;&version=49;) in referring to the circle of the Earth used the Hebrew term Khug, which actually means ball
Which was well before the Quaran

Lol, how can you say a circle is a ball, a circle is flat not a spherical ball or obslate spheroid which an Ostrich egg is the resemblence to a obslate spheroid. A circle earth would look like this. http://users.skynet.be/maarten.steurbaut/Pictures/Circle.jpg

It's a question of how the ancient Hebrew was first translated into English.

The main reason for Bible to have errors is due to the translation of hebrew to latin, then to english, if followeds the hebrew text then Christianity would of been better understood, thats why muslims follow the arabic revelation, so there will be no fault in the meanings.

In many respects though, the fact that knowledge was scarce, yet scientific facts can be found in the Koran, makes the teachings all the more credible for followers. However, there will always be people to doubt, as you mention, which is why it'd be far better to make your own judgements. It'd probably be much better to analyse and form your own opinions on teaching etc. rather than blindly following them.

However, there will always be people to doubt, as you mention, which is why it'd be far better to make your own judgements. It'd probably be much better to analyse and form your own opinions on teaching etc. rather than blindly following them.
I thinks it is unbelievable what can be found in the quran. if anyone reads through Quran, the book has scientific explanation on astrology, geology, medicine, zoology even finance & sociology etc. Somebody who's aware of everything wrote this , so maybe there is a God (Allaah) ie creator, ever thought of that ???
You hit the nail on the head when you used the word "unbelievable" That sums up what you should do with regard to such writings...Don't believe a single word of such written garbage that can spin the hind legs off a donky...Just waiting for the gullable to be sucked in.....
Have you ever read the Quran?
Apart from science there is also numerical values in the Quran and propecies.
The Word Day (Al-Yahom )
The numbers of time it mention is 365
You do realise Islamic clanedar is different due to falling 11 days shorter to the lunar year of holy celebration.
Further more.

Al-bahar Sea 32
Al-bar Land 13
If we add up the total words of both "sea" and "land" we get 45. Now if we do a simple calculation:
32/45 X 100% = 71.11111111%
13/45 X 100% = 28.88888888%
Above is what we know today, the percentages of Water (Sea) and Land in the world. Yet another miracle in the Quran.
The Miracles of the Quran will never end. There will never be a time where mankind can fully take in the knowledge that is in this holy book. It is a miracle to all mankind, the word of God. There is no value that one can set to the words of the Creator. It is a treasure of which guides those that want to succeed in this life and the hereafter.
Such beliefs just make me :bigsmile::bigsmile:
Just look at the logic of this one book, the word day is mentioned 365 times, which takes the earth to complete full rotation.
The word
Al-bahar Sea mentioned 32 times
Al-bar Land mentioned 13 times
If we add up the total words of both "sea" and "land" we get 45. Now if we do a simple calculation:
32/45 X 100% = 71.11111111%
13/45 X 100% = 28.88888888%
Quran also prophesised about The moon split which was only mentioned in the Koran and then discovered in 1969 as well as the discovery of mummy of Pharoah's 14 hundred years ago.

Such beliefs just make me :bigsmile::bigsmile:
The Miracle of the Pharoah mummy prediction, no where to be found in the Bible or Old Testament.
“Today, We will save and preserve your body, so that you may become a sign to those who come after you. But verily, many people are heedless of Our signs.” (Qur'an, 10:92)
For more Pharoah info in quran, you can look at chapter 10 and research it more.
2) In this verse Allah says that He has preserved the body of Pharaoh as a Sign for the future generations to see, and it was indeed found and is on museums display for everyone to see
(3) The Quran disclosed the fact of the preservation of the body of Pharaoh 2000 years after Pharaoh was drowned. It was new news for the world to know. Then 1300 after revealing the news in the Quran, Allah showed the body of Pharaoh to the world……. So well preserved in the tomb at Thebes in the King’s Valley, Egypt.
(4) This mummy of Pharaoh was discovered in 1898. Mirza Ghulam Ahmed died in 1908, i.e. 10 years later.
Further the more Prophecies is Quran said the Byzantine empire will be defeated in the lowest land on earth against Persians then rise again and be victorious when it was impossible for them to win during the defeat.
Alif, Lam, Mim. The Romans have been defeated in the lowest land, but after their defeat they will be victorious within three to nine years. The affair is Allah's from beginning to end. On that day, the believers will rejoice. (Qur'an, 30:1-4)
Another statement made is the geographical place The Lowest Land on Earth. Indeed it is referring to dead Sea where they were defeated by Persians in 613, and Dead Sea is the lowest land on earth if you google. Historically Byantines were defeated there, but how did the Prophet know that Dead sea is the lowest land on earth, no techno's back then to measure.

The rilles on the moon are referred to the crack mark/moon split, scientist have made this statement that moon was once split in halve and rejoined, and can you believe this split was prophecised in the koran 1400 years ago, the prophet performed this miracle as stated in the quran to confirm his prophethood, there were several witnesses even a hindu king of india, he wrote a letter which exist in india's official library, this proves Islam is the true religion and Quran was revealed by Allah.

one of the miracles of prophet Mohammed PBUH was the splitting of the moon. Some polytheists asked the prophet PBUH to split the moon if he is telling them the truth and he is the messenger of Allah. They were trying to ask for something impossible to improve what they believe. The prophet Mohammed supplicated to Allah to split the moon, and this is what happened!Polytheists could not believe their eyes. Some of them realized at that moment that prophet Mohammed is the messenger of Allah and became Muslims. Some others said that this is some type of magic and they will not believe in Islam. They asked the convoy arrived to Mecca after few days if they could see the split moon, and they assured them of this, so they realized this is not a magic since magic would effect people with the magician but not that far!
If the moon was really split it must be reunited! And you must have a protrusion just like in plastic surgery!
The mission of Apollo 10 took several photos of a trench that surrounds the moon from passing by both poles! And guess what! the only explanation for this trench was that "Moon was split at a late stage of its age then reunited"…
To read about this trench which is called "Lunar Rille" write the previous name in the search box in the web site of NASA.
Look up at the nasa pictures. there will be line right along the whole centre as if it was cut before. There are ancients records of the sighting as far as in India. And it was not that the people thought the lunar phases to be something, as it goes, - one half was seen on this side of the mountion and the other on the another half.

According to this website (http://www.skyimagelab.com/ap11lunril.html)
Sinuous rilles are now thought to be remnants of ancient lava flows, but the origins of arcuate and linear rilles are still a topic of research.
I do know a number of others, so I hope to consult them and return to this

NASA official record show that the apollo 11 mission was completed when they left the moon at a universal time of 1:54:01 or international time 17:54:01, the link to this is there. http://www.nasm.si.edu/collections/imagery/apollo/AS11/a11facts.htm
[54:1] The Hour has come closer, and the moon has split/cleft assunder.
Notice the chapter and verse number exactly is the same as that of when the mission was completed. The miracle was peformed in chapter 54, verse 1, and the prophecy was fulfilled at the time 1:54:01 when they left the moon.

More information about Rilles can be found here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rille)
Straight rilles follow long, linear paths and are believed to be grabens, sections of the crust that have sunk between two parallel faults. These can be readily identified when they pass through craters or mountain ranges.
Precise formation mechanisms of rilles have yet to be determined. It is likely that different types formed by different processes. Common features shared by lunar rilles and similar structures on other bodies suggest that common causative mechanisms operate widely in the solar system. Leading theories include lava channels, collapsed lava tubes, near-surface dike intrusion, subsidence of lava-covered basin and crater floors, and tectonic extension.
No splitting of moons is required.
Do not have time to have a look at it in detail right now, but here is an article about the geology of the Moon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geology_of_the_Moon)
