Now this is an interesting topic.

I hope she gets thru. I know there's a rule so that contestants can't audition multiple times but I think it only applies to acts who made the final 12.

Lets just hope Sharon doesn't get the girls this year.

Yeah it does, Im so happy at this as I think, if she gets a good mentor she
will definitely make it to the live shows. She's imrpoved so much from last year too

I think it is just for the final 12 because I *think* in series 1 Chenai auditioned but Sharon never put her through at the judges homes (?) stage and in series 2 she made the live shows and was kicked out about 3 or 4 weeks in.

Yeah Chenai got to judges houses and then got kicked out :(

I don't think it'd be fair if she got a place in the final 12 or at the judges' houses this year, since she had a chance last year and it's be taking someone else's chance.

But there's a rule so that she can do exactly that. In American Idol there have been quite a few contestants who had auditoned before. Carly Smithson in this years AI final 12 was just such a contestant. She auditoned in AI5.

Well, they didn't audition as a group, and it was all obviously set up by the producers to do something different

And I know GiRTh, I'm saying there shouldn't be one.

Though I did like her last year, and if the quality of last year's contestants (Hope included) was anything to go by, I'd be happy for her to take someone else's place lmao.

I'm goin by that cover of "Bleeding Love", im looking for her audition on youtube now. That cover is horrendus.

Billy

Yeah you did but to be honest, that is kinda bad (bleeding love) I think her other songs are so much better= she is singing Im Alive for her audition, and she sounds great

Actually I agree with Billy and I'm not joking either. The Hope girls had their chance, and the lads in Futureproof did as well. They obviously weren't good enough but when it came down to it both groups stole a place in the live show that should have gone to groups who auditioned as groups. The same principle applies really.

Life auditioning to be on stage and to be a singer is full of rejection, so why should she not be allowed to try again and improve if she has already been rejected? It happens in TV programmes, some actors and actresses audition 6 or 7 times for the same show and for that number of different characters until they finally get in. Why should X Factor be any different?

I agree.

Both Hope & FutureProof, had their chance and failed. They should not have been chosen over other groups. Plus, both groups were rubbish and only one person from both groups had any sign of talent (Phoebe, Hope).

oh no: disclaimer: i liked hope and didnt think they done anything wrong by getting through. (dont cyberslap me shaun)

Shaun
15-05-2008, 03:31 PM
Lmao, don't worry about it Billy. I've given up all hope (ahar.) of anyone being civil about Emily (hope. not solo.), so I'm used to it now

And I agree with you as well Tom, I didn't say I disagreed. Hope weren't very good, they're OK, but other groups deserved their place.

Obviously, at the time, I supported a friend as I would any friend.

Tom
15-05-2008, 03:33 PM
On the whole last years acts were just crap anyway, hence I supported a pre-menopausal woman to win :joker:

The half decent ones who could sing (but not necessarily have stage presence) were kicked off in the first couple of weeks, and him who sung Buttercup was well and truly stitched up. He could have gone far.

Shaun
15-05-2008, 03:35 PM
Hmm. A lot of people are "able to sing" but stage presence is just as important. Which is why Leon shouldn't have won

IMO the only acts who had nay real stage presence last year were Rhian & Same Difference. However, Rhydian I felt was somebody who would do well anyway - and when he sang with Katherine Jenkins, it arrived he wasnt as good as people maybe thought he was. He wasn't quit opera, not quite Rock-Opera. I could place him. I could see him selling albums, but could see him getting number 1 singles. Same Difference were good, but their voices IMO where not great.

IMO Leon deserved to win. He never had any singing lessons before his audition, and managed to go the whole show never being in the Bottom 2. He wowed people like Celine Dion, Michael Buble, Cheryl Cole - along with each of the judges at some point during the show. He has the voice - okay, maybe not the moves, but he can work on that.

I think Leon sent out the wrong message. Some people will work all their lives to try and get somewhere and never do. After Leon winning, there will be loads of people now just thinking "oh I can do that to" and have no practice and just turn up for the audition without practicing just expecting to get in.

I think Leon winning was a joke. He simply does not have the natural ability to have any kind of longevity in the music business. As for Leon not having any prior training? Why does that matter? Carrie Underwood had no trainig prior to winning American Idol 4 but she was outstanding every week of the finals. For me Leon gave no more than two decent - and I dont mean good or great I mean no more than decent - performances throughout the competition. He was rubbish in the first few weeks and was only kept in because the public felt sorry for him.

I'm a fan of the Votefortheworst.com websit (Checkout my banner). I reckon that if we had a similar thing for x_factor they'd have latched on to Leon very quickly and would have claimed his victory was a disaster for the integrity of the show. I, for one, would agree.

Billy

Leon didnt deserve to win atall, he had trouble staying in tune, even the recording of When You Believe is awful. he turned the show into a joke.

(kimberley had stage presnece :()

There are always exceptions like Carrie Underwood but the vast majority of people who have no prior training or experience will go in and do badly, and Leon did just that. If people think they can do that and win then the standard is going to continue to drop and drop and X Factor will turn into a bigger joke than it already is.

I don't think he should have got past bootcamp. His mouth looks awkward when hes singing, his voice is very monotonous and I think when he releases later this year he won't last long in the charts. His second single will probably do well just for the novelty etc but after that I predict he will just bomb out of the charts.
