Even today, being 17, I love it when the fire alarm goes off in school. The teacher's all rush out to the yard, the headteacher has her megaphone to get everybody's attention, there's usually a fight too because the whole school is on the yard at the same time.
i do usually love them, im usually happy but when they keep going off when your running your own department then one of two is ok but if when we get back in they go on then no they are not.
Agreed they are funny at school, especially when the fire brigade turn up as the caretaker doesnt know how to reset the alarm panel!

We used to set them off at school. Of course, I've grown up since then. A bit.
Ours were always going off at school, mostly after yet another pupil burnt their fairy cakes. The teachers spent 5 minutes just shushing people.
our headteacher used to call the police and arrest the person who set them off

Did you burn your fairy cakes?
Oh wait, is that an analogy?
I accidently set one off last year. It was so embarrasing. We were in a old block so the it was a one which to pull down and I thew my bag on it.
the heat in the summer used to set ours off. i smashed the alarm panel once but there was an actual fire

Grr. I can offer a new insight into this, being in student accommodation.
There is nothing worse than a fire alarm going off at 2am-9am.
There's been numerous times I've had to run downstairs in the street in my PJs, or in a towel because I've been in the shower! Most of them at around 4am when some drunk student has burned their bacon!

Once my house alarm went off for no reason at like 1:30 in the morning... my dad couldn't find anything to wave infront of the smoke detector to turn it off so he grabbed a cereal box and starting waving it. There was chereos all over the floor. Lol.
It happened another few times during the next day too, so we had to get new ones.
Uck, that was funny, because right when I read Fire Alarms in this thread I heard a fire truck go by.

Yes - it was caused by building works next door

Our fire alarms were emitting a low beep for 3 days earlier in the week and it was a mare, I felt like I had ringing in my ears constantly.

When the alarm goes off in school - straight away everyone is asking everyone else who set them off ! x
When they do go off its well fun =D x
I used to love them going off in school but there was a time the week before our first GCSE exams when they went off 6 or 7 times a day so it was sort of frustrating but great when in bad lessons! There was a fault in the system then so by law we shouldn't have even been allowed in.
Another time (a few years before) there WAS a fire and the fire alarm failed to go off, and when we went to go out the teacher locked the door despite it being below us! Stupid fat bastard.
The most annoying time was when I was away somewhere with school. Some girls thought it would be funny to straighten someone elses hair at 6am, and the detectors were extremely sensitive so the steam (yes, the steam) set it off, and in the middle of November that wasn't nice especially trying to quickly find clothes to put on whilst you've got teachers hurrying you out. I sympathise Lauren in the student flats :colour::spin2:

i work in a nursery and a while ago a staff memebr accidently spilled the water from the mop bucket all over the upstairs bathroom floor setting the fire alarm on the ceiling underneath off and as they are all conected every other alarm in the building and it was pick up time so we had aprents and children shouting over the alarms going outside into the rain outside!! arrggh what a fiasco!!!

haha.. I just stumbled across this thread Rob... Are you still working at the same place... it's ironic that you complained last year about the fire alarm going off, and this year you're complaining that it's not. You don't have much luck with fire alarms! LoL

I don't mind them, its jsut always crap because they turn out to be nothing to worry about.
However, a school in my town did have a bomb alert a couple of years ago. DRAMA! :)
