Davina McCall has warned that Big Brother contestants should not expect the show to be a "stepping stone".

The programme's host revealed that she has most respect for housemates like Cameron Stout, who disappeared from the spotlight after winning Big Brother 4 in 2003.

"I think that somebody like Cameron - I loved Cameron Stout and I thought he was such a worthy winner and he really made me laugh and I think the real people always win in the end – that Cameron did it right," Davina explained. "He had a job before he went in, he took some time off, he had a brilliant time, had a fantastic experience and then went back to his job and that’s the way to do it.

"I mean Big Brother is the experience of a lifetime, it can be really, really good fun and you can make friends in there that you will keep forever but you mustn't think of it as a stepping stone to anything. I think the people who haven't thought of it as a stepping stone to fame and fortune have done really well out of it."

McCall also admitted that Big Brother producers have not yet told her what to expect from this year's series.

"I only like to know about that stuff about a week before but I obviously need to know the housemates beforehand because I need to know all their names," she said. "But I am quite crap at keeping secrets, I can keep one for about a day."

Big Brother 9 starts on June 5 on Channel 4 and E4.

I remember she had an interview last year with Chris on Radio 1, about a week before the launch? I think? Anyway he asked her about an all girl house, she said nothing, which made it quite obvious! lol

She's lined up for Paul O' Grady the Monday before the launch, she might give some info there!?

Is she doing any other interviews?

I think she is doing The Chris Moyles Show soon, she was on the phone to him the other morning but no mention of BB9. Today he was talking about the show for a while and making it sound really good, he was asking when the launch date was and alot of people were texting in and telling him so people must know when it is and are going to tune in

She warns the fame hungry wannabes, so what is she? All she does is read an auto q, not a talent really. She got to where she is by doing any tv job going. Talk about pot calling kettle. This series will still be full of fame junkies, regardless of what she says, its not like the house mates that have been picked will read what's she is saying as they are in hiding.

I admire the housemates that after big brother they go back into there normal way of living, it just shows they didn't enter big brother for 15 minutes of fame and that they entered purely for the experiance.
People like Chanelle, Charley etc.. are people I don't admire because there main goal is to become famous.

I respect all of the BBCH lot because they dont want to become famous, even though I miss some of them and I want them to at least do an interview for a magazine.
