they aren't allowed newspapers, tv or internet access, they are watched and they aren't allowed out of their hotel room, often they go abroad...

Of course they are allowed out of their hotel room. And they are not under constant surveillance, just have a chaperone. They can watch TV, just recorded such as DVDs etc (Brian watched Big Brother Australia whilst in hiding). When they return to Britain a couple of days before launch is when it becomes more strict, like not being able out of their hotel room and having absolutely no contact with anyone other than being told what to do.

In recent years they have hidden in both Ireland and France, I presume it's the same this year.

I'd imagine there in hiding right now ahead of Launch next week.

I would hate to be in hiding the last few days before launch I would be so bored.

Yeh many contestants have expressed how bored they were 2 weeks before it started, saying they are so hyper on launch day because they get to actually do something.
But hey, just means you gotta work to get into the house :) Cant all be fun and games.

Hiding is all about keeping the potential housemate away from the press, during the audition process any venue such as hotel, etc are informed that the rooms are being used for a PR/Marketing agency or even for legal reasons.

During hiding the housemate is with a chaperone 24/7, they do have short periods away but are very limited to what they can & can't do. At this point an official contract has been signed and you are liable for your position, so its in your best interests to follow exactly everything they say.

We went to different hotels around London & had blindfolds on during the transport process, the car companies used have all signed contracts so they are liable if any information is leaked... its very like moving an important witness really.

During time in the hotel there is usually alot of tasks to do such as IQ tests and information which other shows such as BBLB & BBBM may think of during the hiding time. I know the night before we went in we were up till 4am doing IQ tests & making masks :/ as it was a last minute possible idea for a BBLB show.

BB9 housemates are likely to be spread across europe now and will most likely be transported back to the UK in different airports & the week before at different times.

I know everything had been timed so perfectly in December/January, its vital for them to keep everything secret.

It's a scary time, but its abit surreal too & its a life changing experience so the housemates will all be having a great time. Each chaperone is given a budget for a good time ;)
