Horrific idea.

Bad idea!

I'm not being mean or anything, but it wouldn't be very fair. And, plus - sympathy vote? Maybe people will vote for him simply because he has a disability.

Awful idea, and would definatly put me off watching. He/she would have to be catered for in every task, every twist, it just wouldn't be enjoyable at all.

Yet like the wheelchair rumour for BB7 and BB8, it's probably/hopefully complete bull.

I do not think it is a good or bad idea. Blind people are just as capable as us and I would hope BB does not discriminate. Remember the flack they got for putting Pete in? Everyone thought it was a cheap trick but he turned out to be one of the most loved housemates ever. I really don’t think it is that ludicrous for them to put a blind person on the show.

But they aren't as capable. If an observation task was planned, that would no longer go ahead because you need working eyes for that. They'd have to be catered for in the majority of tasks too. I'd find it really uncomfortable to watch, and watch them 'trying to fit in' when all the time the others will be thinking 'aww'.

You do not need a good pair of eyes to sit in some smelly fish/ stay awake etc. BB could come up with plently of tasks but I do agree with what you have said. I did not think about tasks, I believe that would be the only issue with it.

I think its would be good -

it would show people that think that blind people are weird and strange - that there just like you or me x

I'm not going to judge the idea, because this housemate could end up being a great housemate. Nadia won in 2004, and Pete (tourettes) won in 2006. Being 'normal' or not doesn't really matter, it's about what he or she brings to the show.

They could send in a fish and I wouldn't judge its presence in the house, just what they're like in there.

You are embracing your fellow housemates. John has just spat in your face. Niki and grace are stealing your champagne.

I don't think any housemate should recieve more attention at the outset. Imagine puting a blind housemate in. This would dominate the early talk between the housemates and there would almost certainly be some sympathy vote. It just isn't right.
In society, a blind person shouldn't be discriminated against, but sometimes a blind person just can't do certain things a sighted person can. Also, BB goes under the premise all housemates should have a fair and equal chance on launch night (well it should at least), this would be unfair.

What about their eviction? Would somebody lead them up the stairs and out of the house?

Plus, how would they see their best bits?

Silly idea, really.

Doesn't really bother me. I don't think its fair to exclude someone from BB just cos they can't see!!

Bad Idea! If a blind person goes into the house the question of who will win will disappear. :bored:

If the person is entertaining then that's all that matters to me. Plus, if he/she turns out to be a real, in your face character it could be great.

I still don't think it will happen though.

Its a bad idea, it will be BB7 all over again knowing the winner before the launch show is over.

How do you know? What if the blind person turns out to be a proper arsehole?

A lot of arguments here are not of fairness, but practically.

Why not. After all blind people are like us. So far we only had Pete and his Tourettes. As much as I dislike him I think it was a great idea from the producers to put different people in it.

Glad to see this thread return.

Goes to show just how ignorant some people are. Hopefully, this years show opened up the eyes to those who were blind to the world of people with sight problems.

Mikey has been VERY CAPABLE throughout the whole show and has shown he's not some baby that needs care 24/7.

It's of no surprise to me that the biggets opposition came from a Bex fan. Go figure.

And because people have seen past the fact he's blind and voted for him for other reasons.

I find it rather amusing that the most blind people in all of this frenzy are the critics wildly (and blindly) claiming "he only won because he's blind".

Bad idea, its just a way of having a winner from Day 1, i'd rather bring back Mario and let him win over Mikey

Well so how come we all knew he was going to win before he even entered the house!
And now he probably will win!
What are the chances of that happening! Its not a coincidence that we thought he would win out of 21 people, and he is gonna win probably! Shows the unfair advantage. The way he has behaved, if he wasnt blind he would be up for eviction a long time ago. BUt no one dared nominate him! Or almost no one!

I have nothing against anyone with a disability, i feel for mikey and i wish he was blessed with sight, but that still doesn't take away the undisputed fact that due to his blindness the voters at home will vote coz of that and that makes the show one big unfair fix imo.

It was soooo obvious Mikey was going to win, right from the start, as soon as he got out of the car. Bloody sympathy votes.
