Although only to a few.

The girl has no idea what respect is or how to get it. I think to her it's just a word that she's picked up and has interpreted it to mean that everyone must do as she says....or else!

Grace Dent put this very well on the BB site...

"Alex has been 'disrespected'. Not showing Alex respect is a huge, unquantifiable sin which needs everyone in the house to stop and rectify. Not that it can be rectified. Such is the very very big deal of not showing Alex respect.

Wait a moment Alex, what the hell are you going on about? You're a 23 year old accounts clerk from Croydon and it's a small spat over knickers. Why is everyone acting terrified and you're ranting on and on and on angrily about disrespect? You don't know the meaning of the word, you stupid little girl.

Treat yourself to a dictionary when you're thrown out. Respect is something awarded to people we all admire who've done something great. Not the thuggish person shouting at the blind guy to 'remember her name'.

I'm sure he will remember your name Alex, he's in complete darkness so his ears have to work overtime. Shove off up the stairs as soon as possible and take your little Mafia mantras with you. You'll get no respect from me."

Alex seems to think that anyone who dares to have a two-way conversation, rather than just sitting quietly while she lectures them, or dares to express an opinion that differs from hers is DISRESPECTING her. Here we go again with that bloody word. It's been hijacked by a certain section of society, who, as soon as they PERCEIVE that they are being are challenged, confronted or ignored in even the most harmless way (such as being gently interrupted by Steph and Rachel during her lengthy rant, as Alex was) that they can gain the upper moral hand in any situation by simply announcing that they have been disrespected, as if it were an actual crime, and you should alter your opinion/behaviour immediately, or else. What they are actually saying is 'Fear me. Grovel like a dog. Don't you dare to disagree with me, or challenge me, just concede, bow down and acknowledge my superiority'. So, now we all know where we stand with you then, Alex. She's just like Charlie - a bit sharper and brighter, I'll grant you, but equally deluded about her own importance and intelligence. Charlie liked to accuse people of 'disrespecting her' too as I remember. Funny, that. She's also a contender for Charlie's title of Most Arrogant Obnoxious Rude Unpleasant Deluded and Self-Aggrandising Woman Ever To Walk The Earth. What the ***** do they put in the water in those parts of South London to churn out such revolting, charmless aggressive women? At least Charlie hasn't bred so far, thank God. Alex is actually in charge of parenting a child; can you imagine? Teaching it manners, morals and how to get along in life. Scary. And she's an account clerk! Someone ACTUALLY employs her on a regular basis without finding necessary to sack her for being an obnoxious motormouth! Unbelievable. What, is she blackmailing them? They must be desperate for staff in Croydon if they are prepared to actually tolerate THAT in the office.
Alex, Alex, Alex, respect is a currency. It's traded both ways. You can earn it quite easily by showing it to others. did your mother not teach you that, or did her 'tough love' only extend to teaching you that the way forward is through aggression and rudeness? What are you frightened of? It is not a sign of weakness or subservience to listen to others, to co-operate and compromise. It is unnecessary and impolite to constantly harp on about what you consider to be the failings of others. It's tough, isn't it, when you are so beyond critisism on every level, to have to exist surrounded by idiots and people who refuse to acknowledge your obvious superiority, but trust me, you will not compromise yourself by just shutting the ***** up once in a while and LISTENING. What a classy act you are. I disrespect you Alex, do you hear me? I'll say it again. I disrespect you. Remember I told you. (as you like to say).

+1 karma (If I could) for an articulate and great response!

and in full agreement.

I feel people back down because either A: frightened to where it may lead B: It is hard to defend yourself against such trivial and unitelligible remarks and feel that you should not have to or C: they have a rep to uphold!!!! Perhaps more B than A.

I like the way she was lecturing Rex in the ashtray about rudeness when she had her back to him - class!! (or not as the case may be!)

I agree with everything that has been said. Why the hell should the housemates have to put up with a moron like that???? They should complain about a bit more then BB will have no other choice but to evict her. I cannot wait to nominations, if they have sense they will all nominate her, then she can be thrown to the lions:cheer2:

Rex did just right when he said, don't try to squash me, don't try to squash me. Alex knew she wasn't going to bully him so she walked away and called him a prick. Rex is layed back but he won't let Alex dominate him, let's see if she keeps trying to break him. I doubt it.

Why is it, the ones that spend the most time blabbering on about respect are nearly always the ones that are least respectful themselves?!

True. Did anyone catch the bit where she was smoking with her back turned to Rex. Thats just down right rude. She cant talk about respect until she shows some of her own.

It's because it's the thing about themselves that they most dislike only it's too painful/mindblowing for them to acknowledge and accept it so they project it onto others.

True. I often find, the things people accuse others of most, are the things they are most guilty of themselves.

She is one of the biggest hypocrites I have ever seen. She talks about people being disrespectful and inconsiderate when it is her who is doing this?! Alex moaned at Bex for cooking some chips, yet yesterday went and made herself a massive bowl of pasta. She is totally ignorant and is a bully,yob and psycho.

I found out today that she threatened to hit my friends boss last year cos she accidently pulled out in front of her in her car at these really busy road in Croydon. So Alex started following her down the road and got out of her car and had a massive go at her for having no respect and threatening to kill her. I was at work this afternoon and I work in Croydon and a few people came in saying they have seen her before arguing with people and being really thuggish.
My mate also goes to school with her cousin and she is apparantly quite rude as well.

Alex seems to be trying to be one of the worst stereotypes of a black woman I’ve seen in a while. With all her gangster rubbish and the hypocritical rubbish about how she’s pulled herself up and made something of herself and how she has a BMW. What she seems to have failed to mention is that she probably has that because she stripped naked and worked as a lapdancer.

She throws around the word respect, but has no clue about showing it to other people, and demands it is shown to her.

She needs to set a better example she is a mother after all.

I think some people have such a deeply ingrained sense of their own inferiority and they think we can all smell it; see it like a neon sign on their foreheads. The way they deal with it is to cultivate an aura of power, fear, aggression and what they think counts for intelligence. They use this 'aura' to batter people into submission because they think that if they don't bite first someone else will, and will take an opportunity to belittle them or pull rank in some way. It never actually occurs to them that perhaps no-one is out to belittle them; for them it's just a given. Classic chip on the shoulder behaviour. There can never be any room for manouvre as it creates a chink in their armour. God, as I'm typing this I'm thinking just HOW LIKE Charley this girl is! BB producers certainly knew what they were doing with this specimen. Here's the funny thing: in the first few programmes, although I could see that she was going to be difficult and somewhat prickly I thought I was going to quite like her. She seemed very bright, and sharp, and I liked her cynicism over the wedding. Also, I really loved the fact that she said to Rex: 'You are very well spoken. I won't say "Posh" because that would be rude.' That's very perceptive, and decent of her (yes really - Alex has a decent streak!) After all, mocking 'the 'Posh' is the last acceptable prejudice. Most people from average backgrounds think it's perfectly acceptable to openly tease the well-spoken or well-educated, or just those who have had the dubious pleasure of being born into an upper-middle class background - hardly their fault!!! (If you don't believe me just look at James Blunt, who has had the audacity to try and be rock'n'roll though he's an ex public schoolboy and ex-army officer. He could look and sound like Liam Gallagher, John Lennon and Johnny Rotten rolled into one and people would still never take him seriously because of his class). Inverted snobbery, tsk tsk...it's snobbery just the same. We wouldn't openly snear at someone black, Irish, Gipsy, Gay, fat, midget, blind, old, but oh, just try opening your mouth and forming beautiful rounded vowels with no regional accent or grammatical clangers and suddenly you everyone's legitimate figure of fun. Anyway, I digress...
Initially I thought I may be developing a grudging admiration for Alex, in spite of her stroppiness. But she was clearly on her best behaviour for the first few shows. She soon let down her guard and her true colours shone through. Vile. Cheap. Nasty. A bully. Above all, terrified of being exposed as the downmarket little nobody she is. She keeps going on about how much she has achieved. What has she achieved, exactly? Apart from a depressingly familiar ability to dodge contraception?

Feral
12-06-2008, 06:36 PM
This behaviour can also be a defensive mechanism - to protect herself from being victimised or bullied herself or perhaps a way of determining power - I mean it will take another strong character to be on the same level.

Also appears to be a pee poor leadership challenge - taken on all decisions in regards to cooking and rations - although there is somebody else up for the role - Mario.

She has no respect for anyone other than herself. The woman thinks it is ok to walk rough shod over the views and feelings of every other HM. She doesnt care if they have food to eat as she doesnt need much of it but what about the others, how about what they might like.

What can one say about Alex

K = Klutz

I = Ignorent

C = C**k

K = Katastrophic

H = Hoody

E = Egotistic

R = Rude

O = Ogre

U = Ugly

T = Tart

This woman is showing signs of racism in my opinion towards a few in the house and is making it a serious vendetta. I thought Charlie was bad, but this Ugly B***h needs to be kicked to the kurb.
