phpbb (im assuming) has a minimum age requirement of 13 which all boards have to follow so i think its just that BUT if shes younger then she could just lie as long as she doesn't post her real age anywhere

I was 11 when I joined last year and nobody has said anything. I am 12 at the moment. I will be 13 in August.

I always thought you had to be thirteen or older to be able to join forums in general...

Yeah, I think that was his age. He's Sue's (Siouxe) son.
May have been older.

Aww I miss Sue where is she lol, she made TiBB a right laugh.

There is a message when people sign-up now that says the minimum age is 13. It would be probably be okay for someone younger to use the forum if they had permission from a parent or older sister/brother etc. and was supervised.

So why was 13 picked? :puzzled:
We have at least one person here who has admited to being under this minimum age limit. If it is a TOS condition of XMB Group, should that person's ID be suspended until they turn 13, just to keep us on the right side of the regulations?
Apologies to the poster in question, but rules are rules.

Age restriction on a carefully moderated forum like TIBB I think is not really needed. Are TIBB postings likely to harm or corrupt someone. No but they might just educate....
There is nothing on this type of forum that youngsters well below the age of 13 won't experience on there way to schools and the language of slightly older friends....
When there are open and frank discussions sometimes with adult themes the British always seem to think that somehow kids are going to be corrupted by something or other....The old victorian mentality still thrives even in the 21st century....
One day..Don't know when but some day the grown ups will actually be grown up and respect the minds of youngsters and stop treating them like children when children stop thinking like children......Age is just a number. Maturity is something else.....

There is an American law called COPPA, support for which is built into the forum. Obviously that law doesn't apply here but we just decided to make the age-limit the same as that.
Info here - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children%27s_Online_Privacy_Protection_Act
Some users might have signed up before we put that limit on, also.
