WHAT IS TEXT SPEACH ?

I know this is going to sound really dumb but I was wondering if someone could tell me what text speach means. I saw something about it in the announcements post, and I really don't want to post something in all innocence and it not be right. Many thanks :thumbs:

Text Speak refers to the abbreviated 'language' that started it life with text messages on mobile phones.

Examples are:

M8 - Mate
H8 = hate
any1 - anyone
u = you

etc etc

There are so many abbreviations now that it has almost developed into a language all of it's own, and a lot of young people who send lots of text messages tend to use it all the time without thinking. It might be OK in text messages when there isn't much space to write out proper words, but its very annoying when used in posts on forums as not everyone understands it and it it can make posts very difficult to read.
