View Full Version : Tired format - Time for a revamp?
Scarlett.

For me the "Music Talent show" is a tired format, how long has it been going now? since Popstars, I dont mind Variety Talent shows much but shows like X Factor and American Idol are just
My onions

Scarlett.

Nooooooooo dont stop it now.
I have spent the necessary 20 minutes rehearsing my real sob story Dad passed away got a phycopathic daughter and I'm trying to get my husband to admit he's leaving me for my best friend next week.
I was called Whisked egg at school because I was constantly being beaten
At work I was called cinderella because I have 2 real ugly sisters.
I can sing real sh*t too, falling on my back in the rain is easy peasy for me so dont take the show off now and deprive me of a certain win.
Oh, go on then I hate them shows :joker:

Grrr omg you make me so angry LOL sorry
But if you dont like it DON'T WATCH IT!
By watching it your making yourself angry, and then complaining makes us angry.
Why do people campaign to have shows axed, why dont they just not watch them?
Some of us, about 10milion of us LOVE X factor, so why don't you just watch something else on a Saturday night
Scarlett.

What like?
X Factor is dummed down trash, made for the mass's. They dont care if its good or not, all the producers care about are the money.
X factor clothers, tour, perfumes....
We complain because we want something good on!
Are we not aloud to do that?

Theres loads of stuff to watch on Sky
but a lot of Britain only have for channels
BBC1 - Crappy musical show
BBC2 - How hard is your suasage?
ITV1 - The X factor
C4 - Did Queen Charles like Cheese?
Trust me its a lot more annoying when you only have that to watch

Being stupid... hardly constructive :joker:
So what, reality TV shows dominating the media for 3/4 months...how can I not stay away from it, its everywhere!
That said, I do watch it, as the rest of my family do, but I honestly think we need a new show instead, maybe move BGT to that slot instead. Or bring back some good entertainment.
Thanks to X Factor they axed Afterlife....

YOUR choosing to watch the programme, therefore its your problem.

How do you know its just me and a 'handfull' of others, this is just a sample of the whole population. Surely they can replace it with a show thats a bit more new and fresh, rather than a tired format.
Oh well, it will kill itself soon, its the TV circle of life. Look at home makeover shows, so overdone they are near dead. The X Factor will be next!

Some talentless wannabee may I add.
1/2 of the winners have no talent at all - Leon and Shane Ward. Clones.
The other two, well, yes they have talent, but still, winge back Leona, crying and moaning in every song, and Steve, well, Steve who?

Yeah. I dont really think Shayne has talented, more his mixer etc. IMO X Factor type shows spell a career at butlins!
Naa, seriously though, it needs revamping or something, and if it gets one more Xmas No.1, i will loose faith with the british puplic!

22-06-2008, 09:05 PM
Aye, its the reason the Christmas songs have died out, it really is time for a Christmas song to reach No.1
I think a tweaked format would be better than a completely new one.
Instead of judges getting all boys, all girls, all groups and all over 25s, maybe its time for the judges to work together until the final 12 in each category, then they are randomly allocated (by names in a hat type method on screen, picked by the judges) 3 acts from each category each then the judges have to whittle them down however they need to with each judge taking through 1 act from each category. It would stop the whole mentality of the viewers of "Cheryl has the boys therefore she is at an automatic advantage to win" or the opposite with the groups. More of a level playing field.
But I don't think the show has had its day yet, in fact talent shows this year have scored their highest figures for some time so there clearly still demand and the format isn't as tired as people think.
Thing is... my friend got in to the final 10 in sharons group last year. And when she got out of the audition she made a 10 min speech to the cameras and the way they edited it was so horrible. They took the slushy boring bits and edited it together.
I like to think its not the contestants main idea to go out with a sob story but its pushed and pushed by the production team and they seem to get it. The only time I dont like it is when they do it on the live show, usually to get more votes. Bugs me that does.
Arneldo

If it aint broke - don't fix it. The X Factor gets 9 million viewers a week and it is one of the biggest shows on British TV...so I doubt it will be axed anytime soon :L
But for the format..personally I like The X Factor because it's different to other singing shows in the fact that it allows pretty much people of all ages and the whole idea of the mentors brings a new feel to the show instead of the usual and pretty simple public vote.
The sob stories are dull but I always look past them. It's not the contestants choice. It's the producers idea to get the public to vote so they can get more money.
