SHAMED Scots Big Brother contestant Dennis McHugh was quizzed by police yesterday for spitting in another housemate's face.
The 23-year-old could face an assualt charge for the attack on Mohamed, which led to him being kicked off the show.
But police are waiting until Somali-born Mohamed is evicted before taking further action.
Student dance teacher Dennis, of Edinburgh, spat on his rival on Friday morning during a boozy row.
The rammy kicked off after Jennifer's painting was vandalised.
Last night Dennis' mum Linda, 50, defended her son and revealed she had spoken to him yesterday morning just hours before he was questioned by police.

Complaints

She said "He was just trying to stick up for a girl. He sticks up for people when they are being picked on. He was also doing so well on Big Brother before this happened."
Dennis was not arrested and did not go to a police station.
Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "Officers have spoken with a 23-year-old man from Edinburgh in connection with an alleged incident."
"He was spoken to under caution and at this stage no further action has been taken. Officers will speak with the potential complainant as and when he leaves the house."
Channel 4 and BB producers Endemol were last night accused of using the spitting incident to attract viewers. BB9 has a lower audience than any previous series.
Dave Turtle, of Mediawatch UK, said: "They show things like this for the ratings. Whenever there is a lull, the programme makers engineer a situation to get the ratings back up. Ofcom should review what sort of material Big Brother is putting out."
TV watchdog Ofcom is bracing itself for an avalanche of complaints about the spit attack being broadcast on Friday.
They said: "We've had 1800 complaints. There may be more made online that we won't get until Monday."
Endemol yesterday referred calls to Channel 4 but there was no one available for comment.

Good.
He obviously won't get a jail sentence or anything, but he showed a blatant disregard for the law.

What surprised me is that many people (including on this forum) didn't even know spitting was a battery/common assault offence.

Mohamed won't get quizzed until he is evicted. What a bad comment to make. He could win BB but it is unlikely.

Good

Have you noticed BB can't win?
They didn't show some of the Jade stuff so they got in trouble, so they show ALL of this stuff, and then get in trouble?

People who complain are just pathetic. It was good TV, yeah it was wrong, but so is alot of stuff that is shown of TV. This is 2008 not 1992.

I hope Dennis hides away forever, so we never have to see his beastly, arrogant little face EVER again.

The complaints are stupid.

Awwh.
I hope Dennis becomes successful despite this.
idk. Proper dance tutor or something =\

As for Mohamed, quicker he's out, happier I'll be.

I cannot believe all the hatred on this thread. There are housemates I really, really don't like but even then I don't wish them dead or that they should stay in hiding forever. I just want them out of the house.
