Could be an interesting watch. I'll mark it for later viewing maybe.
Wasn't the world supposed to end in 2000?

It won't happen, it never does. (Luckily! :cheer: )
I might watch this at a later date, but I wont believe it lol. Ever since the comet going to kill us all in about 2004 and the world going to end in 2000. I think its a load of rubbish :)
Really the world might just end in 2012 just because england is hosting the olympics, we might want to die from embarrassment ;).

Load of scaremongering balls, I'm afraid.
The "Bible Code" predicted the world would end on January 1, 2007, and that's supposedly "predicted" many events as well.
It's just all nonsense.
In the words of Nan (Catherine Tate):
"What a loada sh*t".
Having said that, I do find these sorts of documentaries interesting.

I hope it stays that way too for a looong, looooong time.
I'd be well pissed if it turns out the world was going to end sometime soon :spin:

I will watch that when I have time, sounds interesting
but I don't know why people believe the date of the world ending predictions.
If it is true I would be so annoyed, at least let us have Christmas first

Good documentary. But it's not the end of the world, it's just alot of destruction that's going to happen. It's not as if the world's going to explode into pieces.
I like how the English contribution to all this prophecising is the imaginary writings of some imaginary woman from Yorkshire, made up by a bloke called Richard Head.<---------------LOL

Why should they make people live in 'fear' because some new science crap is on its way to destroy earth? Why can't these so called scientists just let their hair down and enjoy life rather than worrying about a comet coming to earth?

Have you never seen the film Armageddon? If it wasn't for the scientists Ben Affleck would never have ended up getting with Liv Tyler. Do you want to see Ben Affleck unhappy? (his unhappy face is the same as his happy face but that's beside the point)
By the way, educating people is a far stretch from making them live in fear.

I disagree. I think it's the other way around.
Most come from scientists - but the ones that make the news come from Philosophers and Biblical Theologians.

this one is not primaraly from science though. and the ones from scientists are slightly less fear tacticish in nature so you dont hear about them as much. most of what we hear comes from religious thought and mythology

I see where you're both coming from.
I agree with Mark in that it's horrible finding out different dates for when the World is going to end and in actual fact has no point to it. It's going to end sometimes, so why would we need to know the date?
But, I agree with Very_Nayce in that it's some peoples occupations to do so, and maybe prevent it happening sooner than later.
The ones I disagree with come from people like Mayans who are "new age" philosophers, deciding the end of the World is when the Sun hits a particular point in the sky. It's these that usually make the media and scare monger people - and I believe these are the ones that cause the most problems.

sorry but i still see it as being silly to chip in your argument then refuse to defend it later but each to their own

At least I'll have done my graduation. Oh, and I won't have to get old. As _Tom_ said, the world is always ending. The world could end tomorrow for all we know. You can't pinpoint the end of life as we know it. I won't deny that we're changing the earth for the worse, though.
I'll be 22. I'm happy with that :spin2:
