Heyy x

Just got home, been in hospital A&E for the last few hours.
I was in D&T (Metal Work) and I was about 2 metres away from the pillar drill.. and my friend was drilling on the drill,

Then next thing I knew, the drill had snapped, exploded sideways, and there was a small piece of metal in my eye.

I shouted s*** really loudly lol - luckily Sir didn't hear!

I went over and told Sir there was some metal in my eye, and he washed it out for me (I got kinda wet!). He said come back in a bit if it still hurts.

So i went back and they rang my dad, and he took me to A&E - we were waiting around an hour then I got called in.

They put some yellow dye in my eye and looked for 'damage' - they said the metal wasnt in there, but it may of scratched my eye and go back in a week ish if it still hurts x

So yah =) - Just thought i'd say what I did today =)

Nicky x

Omg, are you ok?

I hate that yellow stuff, they're like "try not to close your eye" well it's hard when it's basically watering like a waterfall!

Something like that happened to me, but I got poked in the eye with a Pencil by accident. Now my right eyesight is kinda blurry

Hope you're fine though x

Awh that's awful.
I hate anything going near my eyes, I'd have been on the floor screaming.
Then again I overdramatize everything anyway xD

Hope you're okaayyy<33

Thats why you should wear goggles when around the drill, not that I ever did anyway

Eye injuries aren't nice though, I got in the way of an Irn Bru can being threw at someone else and my eye was bloodshot for a month and gave me really bad headaches and made me ill. But I'd rather it was an Irn Bru can than a coke can

The point of my little story is to try and find a funny side in it that you'll laugh about in a few weeks! :colour:

Omg this happened to be last year. I was opening a window and a plastic part went into my eye. I then had to go to hospital and they too put yellow dye in my eye. Nothing was found but they said that it had scartched my eyeball.

I hope your okay!!

Thank heavens we're not in America where society surrounds suing each other.

Don't they have safety glasses in the classrooms? If not, then that's ridiculous. I'm sorry to hear you had to go through that.

Have the Health and Safety Inspectorate been informed, and have they launched an investigation?

If someone had to go to hospital, and you said the drill also went into someone's hand, the HSE MUST be called in automatically.

Even an "accident" has to be investigated to see if maintenance on the equipment was skimped, or training procedures were wrong. One of the aims of an investigation is to make sure it doesn't happen again :nono:
