Vanessa Hudgens' album a 'disaster'

Vanessa Hudgen's new CD, Identified, has debuted this week to disappointing numbers.

Actually, that's an understatement. The album is a disaster!

America HATES Vanessa Hudgens.

Identified sold 22,000 copies in its first week.

Even when she was relatively unknown, her last CD debuted with 34,000.

OUCH!!!

Her embarrassingly bad first single, Sneakernight, probably didn't help things.

I predicted it to do pretty well so I was surprised when I saw it flopped.

a) Its a Hollywood Records album, they never get good sales

b) She hardly promoted it due to her commitments with High School Musical

c) I wouldn't call 22,000 copies a 'disaster'.

d) Its not really an 'embarrassment' to the music industry when the reviews were pretty good, considering shes signed to a Disney label.

Sneakernight is actually climbing the charts now as well. And shes going on tour this month/next so I'd expect it do better soon.

I think no publicity has nothing to do with the sales, due to the internet if its a good album it will sell.
I may remind people of Kelly Clarksons last album, she only released two singles and only one in america, and because her record company didnt like the album she promoted it nowhere. But it has still sold over millions and millions.

If you have a good fan base and just good music that will spread over the internet then there really is no excuse for low sales, other than its a rubbish album.

^Kelly has a huge fanbase, and she gets a lot of airplay and exposure on the music channels and stuff. Vanessa can really only rely on the internet and small amounts of promotion to get her CD noticed. Obviously many of her fans are from the HSM fanbase, and as a lot of them are young people I doubt they'll buy the album. (They probably won't be aware its out because they don't use the internet).

Many radio stations don't play songs from Disney Records as well as play their music videos.

I have listened to the songs on her Album. An di wouldnt say it was that bad. Its just a different approach to music to whati usually here from her. I must admit i do love her slower songs on the album better, Like Dont ask why/

As for me i will buy a copy as its Vanessa Hudgens and she is hot so she deserve my vote :P :D

She's best known for being a good actress through HSM anyway. And based on what I know from America, she isn't actually hated. She may have been given a bad rep in the past but at the end of the day she's a young girl and that shouldn't be held against her anymore.

Since Disney has given her a second chance, I can't see why some viewers can't either. She still has a solid fanbase as far as I'm aware, mainly in the teen group but maybe she'll branch out. She has a nice voice, and some of her songs from her first album were good. I hadn't heard anything about this one - as has been said, it wasn't publicised as much, so it's probably good that it didn't do so well. Good luck to her for the future.

By the way, the title implies disaster because of quality, not sales. I haven't heard the album, so I don't know if it's good or not, but the article's only basis for saying that the album is bad is that it didn't sell well.

I have one of Vanessa's songs from a few years back and I think it's great. As for why this CD didn't sell well, I think it's just that people don't know about it. I love Vanessa but this is the first time I even knew there was a CD coming out.
