View Full Version : Why do women hate women

As we see in the eviction voting on Big Brother, when it is a guy versus a girl, the girl goes.
As the demographics indicate that more females watch than males, the contention is that it is women voting out the women.
The other contention is that women are more critical of other women, so why do women hate other women?

Well, I wouldn't make that assumption. Look at it this way:
Suppose 70% of voters are female, and the eviction is male vs. female.
Now suppose that 49% of votes are to evict the male, and all of these voters are women.
The woman goes, but the majority of female voters still wanted her to stay. It is the male voters who caused her to leave.
Of course, this is exaggerated, but I'm just saying don't assume that because a female goes and the majority of voters are female that it's the females who voted for the female to leave.
Some women are jealous of other women. Some aren't. Some men are jealous of other men. Some aren't.
I think the majority of voters on BB are women, so it would stand to reason that if a woman goes, she would have had more female than male votes. But Mario went instead of Bex, didn't he?
Perhaps some women feel that the women in the house are not a good representation of a woman. The only ones who seem halfway decent are Katreya and Rachel.
Mario v Bex? Your argument falls flat on its face there.
I do get what you mean though. Women fight for their rights and all that then discriminate against eachother. It doesn't just happen in voting either in BB, it just happens in general. Take this few examples.
Glyn is boring, but he hasn't come out of his shell yet
Bonnie is a boring cow, she deserves to go
Saskia opened her legs to Maxwell, shes a dirty slut
Good on Maxwell for getting to sleep with her
Anthony is good looking, he deserves to win
Stephanie is good looking, evict her
Theres just a couple of examples.
I think it's because often women on the show are bigger characters than the males, and people find it easier to pick up on things that are annoying about the female housemates. Women are more likely to vote out annoying, bitchy, slutty housemates rather than a quiet male. And of course if a male is good looking, thats a very good reason for them to stay in...
Obviously there are exceptions, in cases where the male is a bigger bitch than the female housemates, eg. Mario.

Why does my argument fall flat on it's face? Mario is a complete and utter idiot, and I'm glad he was voted out, but that's my point; people are voting on personality, not necessarily gender.

The first line of the argument ...
As we see in the eviction voting on Big Brother, when it is a guy versus a girl, the girl goes.
The fact Mario went undermines that straight away.

Generally, I don't think women hate other women, yet as you say, more women watch bb and so there will be a proportion of those women that will vote out of jealousy (I'm guessing, mainly the younger ones that like dale or stu).
As for the mario v bex eviction- I think bex only survived because of how disliked mario was and if we're talking about jealousy, I don't think most women are going to be jealous of bexs! There could have been women jealous of Steph or Jen, but bexs?! I can't see that...

Oooooo!!! I thought when you were referring to when I said that Mario went instead of Bex and saying that I had undermined my argument by using that example. Now I realise you were talking to the OP. My bad - I misunderstood who you were talking to!

Ahh i find it really annoying how girls/women seem to not like members of their own sex.
On myspace/facebook, ive seen many girls with "dont add if you're female"
I mean, yer some girls are bitchy, but just because you add another girl, doesn't mean your going to bitch about them or steal their boyfriend

Hm. I've found myself disliking some of the female characters on this years BB - based purely on their personality, though.
Alex, Sylvia, Steph and Jennifer all had negative personalities in my viewpoint and so I'd have evicted them either way.
However, my favourite this year is also female...so the gender argument doesn't really make sense in my case.

Not sure it is true outside of Big Brother voting really. Maybe in BB this effect is caused because most viewers realise by now that female housemates earn more money, and get more tabloid media coverage, than male housemates when they leave the house (e.g. Jennifer and Steph) that they think female HMs don't need to win as much.

I don't hate women and i'm a woman, i'm the first to tell a woman that she's pretty if she is or sexy even, i'm straight by the way, but i don't get jealous of anybody or anything, it's pointless and a waste of time, and didn't rachel stay over stuart this week, its not always the woman to go when its male v woman xx

Condidering the ridiculous lengths you go to in supporting PC, I find it staggering that you of all people show so much iggnorance towards gender, this again more evidence of your complete sexist attitude.
Normally I'd find this nothing more than tongue in cheak foolishness, but from some so down right pretentious and smarmy as you are this just seems insulting.
First off most woman dont hate most woman, same as most men dont hate most men even though Friday nights are usually full of A&E wards of men nursing open wounds caused by,,, yep, hate filled other men.
I've never known another woman spit at another woman, and send death threats to another woman mereely because she has a different oppinion on who should play left back for Spurs this Saturday.
Yet according to complete jerks like you, woman hate woman because they lose more head to head votes in BB, not only is this inconclusive proof of the general attitude your title suggests, its also a completely senseless and tottally ignorant view.
If its considered rascist to use the "W" as you did in my thread, I now turn this on you and ask for this offensive (and your other equally sexist posts) be removed by you, I hardly expect you to do so but thats because I really am convinced on your arrogant and ignorance on woman but I can always hope.

I'd love to know where you get that assumption from. Surely not a reality tv show, surely not.
A member recently brought up the show "Loose women" in a debate and I made a comment about it, something along the lines of the fact that I don't really like that show. Women having a go at men (on the majority) and that is not surprising to me. But your assumption based on ???????? cannot surely be right. Some women will be critical of other women, the same as some women can be critical of other men and visa versa

Don't think its about one sex hating the same sex. It's about sexual preference.......I am a guy and tend to want to vote guys out because I like to see and hear females as opposed to males......Personality of course plays a part but when the chips are down and can't decide between two personalities I would then choose to be rid of the guy..
Same logic I believe accounts for women getting rid of their fellow gender........They prefer male company......

If you look at someone like Jen she's become hated for being bitchy, but Luke's still relatively popular despite being so much nastier and bitchier.
Look at the 'Whisper Club'. Sylvia and Jen went out to choruses of boos while Dale and Stu had huge cheers, both were nastier and more aggressive and involved in Spitnight than the women but their part gets forgotten.
I think it's more to do with stereotypes than anything else.
We're used to the stereotype of bitchy girl, but there isn't really a common bitchy guy in the media (Except the bitchy gay stereotype) so when a guy is insulting someone behind their back it isn't really seen as bitching... Whereas because we're used to seeing the stereotypical bitchy/slutty girl they're more likely to be identified as such.
