Release date: 17th July (UK and US)

I am REALLY looking forward to this film, the previous five are some of my favourite movies of all time and the books are also personal favourites, so I hope this one's just as good but I'm sure it will be. Anyone else looking forward to the sixth film?

To be honest I never really liked the HBP, I felt it was just a filler from OoTP to DH, even though I know how important the book was with the overall plot of the story, it was a bit bland for me.

Callum
30-07-2008, 07:21 PM
Same here.
It's the most creepiest, mysterious trailer definitley.
I think Voldemort will be the main focus in this film, with the OOTP it was based on Dolores Umbridge with the HBP I think it'll be mainly based on Dumbledore and Voldemort specifically.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Leaked Scene Script

53 - INT. THREE BROOMSTICKS - LATER - DAY

As the trio enter, Harry glances round, locates Slughorn at the bar, planted plumply on a stool.

HARRY
No. Over here.

Hermione and Ron, in the midst of seating themselves at a perfectly acceptable—and clean—table, see Harry seat himself at one strewn with detritus of a previous customer–but which puts him in direct view of Slughorn. They exchange a glance, shrug, join Harry. Ron starts to take the chair directly opposite Harry–blocking his view.

HARRY (CONT’D)
No, no. Sit next to me.

Ron stops, exchanges another glance with Hermione.

RON
O-kay.

A SKINNY KID in an apron appears, tosses a FILTHY RAG upon the table–which begins to wipe the surface on its own. Harry cranes his neck around the kid to keep Slughorn in view.

SKINNY KID
What’ll we have?

HERMIONE
Three Butterbeers. Splash of ginger in mine, please.

The kid WHISTLES and the rag leaps back into his pocket. Harry continues to eye Slughorn, when he see Draco. They lock eyes briefly, then Draco exits.

RON
Aw, bloody hell…

Harry turns, and sees Ron glowering at Ginny who sits in a dark corner with Dean, their faces lit by a guttering candle.

HERMIONE
Oh, honestly Ronald. They’re just holding hands…
(as Dean kisses Ginny)
And snogging.

RON
I’d like to leave.

HERMIONE
Leave? You can’t be serious.

RON
That happens to be my sister.

HERMIONE
So? What if she looked over here and saw you snogging me? Would you expect her to get up and leave?

Ron blinks, utterly speechless. Then:

SLUGHORN
Harry, m’boy!

Slughorn’s voice BOOMS so loudly even Ginny jumps–and catches Harry looking. As Slughorn waddles over, SLOSHING mug in hand, Harry rises immediately–an action so grossly out of character that Hermione regards him with amused curiosity.

HARRY
Hello, sir. Wonderful to see you.

Hermione, brow wrinkling, turns to Ron, silently mouths: wonderful to see you?

HARRY (CONT’D)
So what brings you here, sir?

SLUGHORN
Oh, the Three Broomsticks and I go way back. Longer than I’d care to admit. In fact I remember when it was simply One Broomstick!

As Slughorn GUFFAWS, Harry joins in, LAUGHING HEARTILY as well. Slughorn’s belly trembles next to Hermione’s cheek and his waving mug sloshes over, spattering the table.

SLUGHORN (CONT’D)
Oops! All hands on deck, Granger!

Hermione smiles thinly, when a WHISTLE is heard and the FILTHY RAG is back, whisking away Slughorn’s mess as the SKINNY KID slides three foaming mugs onto the table. (In the b.g. Katie Bell emerges from the back, starts for the exit. Her friend LEANNE follows her out.)

SLUGHORN (CONT’D)
Listen, m’boy. In the old days, I used to throw together the occassional supper and invite a select student or two. Would you be game.

HARRY
I’d consider it an honor, sir.

SLUGHORN
You’d be welcome too, Granger.

Hermione in the midst of emptying her Butterbeer in one long draw, SLAMS down her mug–leaving behind a “mustache.”

HERMIONE
Be delighted, sir.

SLUGHORN
Brilliant. Look for my owl.
(exiting, to Ron)
Good to see you, Wallenby.

Ron frowns as Slughorn waddles away, turns to Harry.

RON
What’re you playing at?

HARRY
Dumbledore asked me to…get to know him.

RON
Get to know him?

HARRY
Dunno. But it must be important. Otherwise Dumbledore wouldn’t ask.

Slam! Ron turns, see that Hermione has emptied his mug as well. Ron gestures to her upper lip.

RON
Um…You’ve got a little…

Without a thought, she flicks her tongue up, wipes it clean.

I dont care for their reason, with the amount that goes on in the last book, 2 films is a great idea. Plus guys Im really positive about this, I dont think we will have to wait! There will be a leaking at some point, and the producers will regret keeping it back when no one goes to watch it on the first day because they watched the leaked version.

Callum
17-09-2008, 08:43 PM
Barbie I don't think that's true, I think they've decided to do it because Deathly Hallows is such a great book and they want to include everything they can, missing the smallest detail out could spoil the whole film! I was fuming at first over the decision, but now I can see why they've done it, and afterall I'm greatful we've still got an extra movie, because after the second part of DH there'll be no HP movie again.

im not saying its a bad thing at all to do it.. i agree with the idea.. i think people got the wrong end of the stick with what i meant.. yeah they did it to get as much as they can into it but i think milking money out the franchise has played a part in the decision too... if they can get effectively double out of each person for one movie...

There is so many things that piss me off in the films though... the books are set in the 1990's so why the hell the millennium bridge gets destroyed I don't know!

It's to do with target audiences and such, it's easier to connect with non readers if they introduce modern elements. That's why in a lot of book adaptions when they can be made modern they will be.

The HP books were well written though, I didn't realise it was set throughout the early 1990's until the last book. I don't think when it's set really matters sicne they don't mention it in the book but I do think it would have probably been a braver move setting it in the 1990's.

Apparently they didn't want to do it because it would be too similar to the Deathly Hallows scenes.

The Deathly Hallows scene is mega important though, a lot of people die and I can just imagine it now... Giants, Unicorns, Death Eaters, Wizards, Witches, Elves and loads of other things just in a massive fight scene.
It will be epic, I cannot WAIT for the last film.

I think the last 2 films will be the ones they finally get right, up until movie 3 they were fine.

Fans of Harry Potter have reportedly been left disappointed at a test screening of the latest movie in the series.

According to The Sun, some viewers claimed that additional scenes inserted into Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince were "pointless".

One said: "The film is dominated by romance - Ron with Lavender Brown, Ginny with Dean Thomas, Hermione's growing love for Ron, Ron's potion-affected desire for Romilda Vane, and ultimately Harry and Ginny."

Another said: "Anyone who has read the book will be severely disappointed."

Fans were also said to be unhappy at the removal of a number of supposedly important memory scenes involving Potter and the alleged mistreatment of the death of a major character.

A viewer at a US screening said: "The last third of this movie is so incredibly mishandled, the death feels more like an unfortunate accident than genuine tragedy."

Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince is released in the UK on July 17.

From what I've heard they've really skimped out on the fight and the ending. I can understand scaling down the fight as it can't overshadow the last part of DH but from what I've heard certain parts of the ending of HBP are really badly handled.

Hopefully though it's just overblown.

‘Harry Potter’ Breaks Midnight Record with $22.2 Million

http://wearemoviegeeks.com/wp-content/harry-potter-half-blood-prince2.jpg

(CNN) -- "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" made $22.2 million at its midnight showings Wednesday, setting a new record.

The figure was released by Warner Bros., the studio that produced the film. (Warner Bros., like CNN, is a unit of Time Warner.) The previous record was held by last year's Batman tale "The Dark Knight," which made $18 million at its midnight showings.

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," which opened on a Wednesday in late June, grossed about $16 million in its midnight premiere, according to the trade paper Variety.

"Half-Blood Prince," the sixth movie in the series based on J.K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter books, had more than 2,700 sold-out screenings, according to MovieTickets.com.

The film had more than 1,500 midnight screening sellouts in the United States and finished as the No. 2 all-time movie for advance ticket sales at MovieTickets.com.

The film finished just behind "Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" in advanced sales.

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" is showing at almost 4,300 theaters across the United States and Canada. The film is expected to gross more than $100 million this weekend and could match "Transformers" and "Dark Knight" by making more than $200 million total in its first five days.

The new movie reflects the growth of the characters: Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), the orphaned boy wizard who has been forced to take on responsibilities beyond his years; Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), his best friend, who is finding depths of courage he wasn't aware of; Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), the bookish and indispensable member of their clan who has demonstrated key leadership qualities; and all the rest, preparing for the showdown with the arch villain Voldemort.

Among the returning performers: Michael Gambon as Dumbledore, Alan Rickman as Snape, Maggie Smith as McGonagall, Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid and Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort. One addition is Jim Broadbent, who plays Horace Slughorn, a former professor brought back to Hogwarts.

Despite the growing darkness, there's also a lightness to the new film, Radcliffe said. Unlike the previous two movies in the series, which were rated PG-13, this one is rated a more family-friendly PG.

"I think this film's funnier," Radcliffe said. "There are a couple of moments which I laughed out loud at."

Yep. This one seemed to have more humor in it compared to the other movies. Some of the special effects are really scary though like the times when it's all quiet then you hear a huge loud noice. One of them made me jump LOL.

Watched it today, it was fantastic. It was different from the book but I am used to that now, as a film on it's own it is great, as a film adaption of a book its a bit poor. But the special effects are insane! The ending was good even though they missed out a vital part. In fact a lot of important information was left out but that is expected.

I really want Harry Potter to be made into a TV series with 10 hours allowed for each book. Maybe 3D animated, It is just the magic that got the books so famous and huge are not in the films, the films are good but no where near the magic of the busses.
