Once the lights were out Michelle, Marco, Nadia and Shell gathered on the bottom bunk bed and told each other spooky stories.

The longhaired student, so brave during the day when he was wearing his beloved cowboy outfit, was reduced to a shivering wreck.

As Shell squealed with delight at Marco's horror story about a gravedigger, Stuart whined: "This is the worst night ever."

The housemates took it in turns to tell their ghostly tales. Michelle particularly relished the gasps from her audience as she told of seeing a pale figure praying by a friend's bed.

"Is it a true story?" asked a sceptical Nadia. Michelle confirmed it was and continued, "It's probably because it's an antique bed...sometimes he's praying against the bed."

"Oh my God!" cried Marco suitably freaked out. "Well scary."

A ghoulish Michelle told the rapt audience that her friend still has the bed: "I would so not keep it," she shuddered.

Stuart cowered in the adjacent bed and murmured, "It's a horrible story." But unfortunately for the cowardly cowboy they had only just begun.

Vanessa came into the bedroom and wasted no time in joining in with spooky tales from South Africa. Too scared to remain alone, Stuart decided to join the others on the bunk bed, bringing his comfort blanket with him.

Shell encouraged a delighted Marco to tell Vanessa his grim tale about a gravedigger. Mid-way through the horror story, Big Brother asked for a housemate to come to the Diary Room.

I know there's a bed shortage, but this is ridiculous

Stuart immediately said: "I'm not going!" Seeing that her lover-boy was very frightened, Michelle stroked his arm and sweetly suggested, "Maybe you should go to bed and block your ears, chick."

But Stuart was rooted to the spot as Marco continued his tale, putting on a scary voice and said, "I'm here to kill you!" The law student then lunged towards Vanessa. Everyone squealed with delight except Stuart who was literally hiding under the duvet.

"You alright there, Stu?" asked a concerned Shell. The history of art student comforted him by saying, "You'll be absolutely fine.

"There's really nice ghosts, too. There's like ghosts of your dead relatives and stuff and they're lovely and they look out for you like angels."

But if this was having a soothing effect on Stuart it was quickly squashed when Marco said with a chilling, rasping voice "They're watching you, Stu!"

"Shut up for ******** sake," warned a protective Michelle.

She joined Stuart in his bed to kiss and cuddle him all better. Will there be any naughty nookie? Well, she's in with a ghost of a chance...

Stuart scared by ghost stories

Ghost stories as told by some of the other housemates have sent Stuart cowering under his duvet in fright.

"This is the worst night ever," the youngest member of the house murmured as Michelle, Marco, Vanessa and Shell all delighted each other telling spooky tales.

He eventually joined the others on the bed together, but rejected a suggestion by Vanessa that if he didn't like the stories he should respond to Big Brother's request for someone to go to the diary room.

Michelle told a story about a friend seeing a ghost praying beside his antique bed, which she insisted to Nadia was true.

And Marco told a story about a gravedigger, which ended with him saying: "I'm here to kill you!" in a scary voice and lunging at Vanessa.

Eventually Shell tried to comfort Stuart by claiming that not all ghosts were bad.

She said: "There's really nice ghosts, too. There's ghosts of your dead relatives and they're lovely and they look out for you like angels."

This was quickly scotched by Marco, who screeched: "They're watching you, Stu!"

But Michelle told him to 'shut up for ******* sake."
