View Full Version : Luke You Say He's Two Faced, But...

Has there never been someone in your working/social life you didn't like or just not got along with but never actually said so to their face? I mean, would you really go out of your way to approach a person you didn't like and tell them every day you didn't like them?
Like Luke, I'm civil to those I don't like for the sake of the peace...then bitch about them elsewhere.
Isn't Luke essentially doing what most of us do on a daily basis?
Also, I can quite understand the reasoning behind Luke's bitching. I think it's more for the viewers than fellow housemates. He's saying things that he's observed and if you see it too then you agree with him. If you're not seeing it he's urging you to watch more carefully and draw you're own conclusions. So far I can only agree with Luke's observations. He's been right about Kat, he's been right about Darnell and he's been right about Mohamed. He may be bitching and it may not sound nice but what he's saying does rather appear to be the case.
You might not like Luke - he is a Marmite character after all - but he's astute and clever a great deal of the time.

What about with Mario tho? He was always right there at Marios side, agreeing with everything he said, then yesterday (think it was yesterday lol) he made rude remarks about him.

In a word NO!!
In two words absolutely NO, in four words... I would get a 24 hour ban from the moderators, which is the differece between Luke and normal decent people, like you and I.
We can moderate our behaviour we can actually say some decent things about people, we have the ability of care, some understanding of fault, some modicum of natural decency.
LUKE HAS NONE!!!! he has not once sincerly made a decent comment about ANYONE of his HM's, in such tone as his constant fault finding of them.
His answer to humour is sarcasm of the nastiest varierty possible, his constant sledge hammer whit has even been noticed by a poor numbscull like Rebecca, thats not what I or anyone I know would treat 'best friend' or 'loved one'
Infact I would seriously be offended if ever I was likened to Luke in any way at all, yes I am critical of HM's yes I'm oppionated but treating people who Ive just met like Luke did to Belinda..no
Asking people to support me in a campaign knowing I will do the opposite and therefore waste thier time, ...not me, ever.
Snigger at someones idea to burn food knowing how much it has hurt me in the past watching greed on a low budget, absolutely 100%, and thankfully, NO' I'm very proud to say nothing like this creature at all.

Thats not being two faced tho. (Not answering the Q)
It's just called reserving your opinions because you have respect for others and yourself.

Because the quoting here seems to be broken, everything that Unblonde said is highlighted in bold.
"Has there never been someone in your working/social life you didn't like or just not got along with but never actually said so to their face? I mean, would you really go out of your way to approach a person you didn't like and tell them every day you didn't like them?"
Incomparable.
In a working life or social life, you do not see the person that you dislike for 24 hours every single day and so for the benefit of both people - you keep your frustrations to yourself. Neither do you necessarily (assuming you are a decent person) run around making up things about them to everyone else - which is exactly what Luke does.
In that house, if you really honestly dislike someone or do not get along with someone - it is in the interests of civility that you either keep it locked up inside or inform them (which does not, by the way constitute insulting them). Making up conspiracy theories about them (as Luke does with Kat, Darnell, Mohammed etc) is just being plain mean and has nothing to do with disliking them.
"Also, I can quite understand the reasoning behind Luke's bitching. I think it's more for the viewers than fellow housemates. He's saying things that he's observed and if you see it too then you agree with him."
Lol, what?
Observed? Essentially most of his bitching is conspiracy theories. He once thought that Maysoon, Belinda and Sara (and he told this to Mario, I believe) were on secret missions and all had different jobs than what they claimed. He has absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Kat is after the money at the end of the day and yet he spends all the time gibbering about it.
"If you're not seeing it he's urging you to watch more carefully and draw you're own conclusions. So far I can only agree with Luke's observations. He's been right about Kat, he's been right about Darnell and he's been right about Mohamed."
What about them has he been right on?

The basic answer to the OP is NO. Obviously we cant go around telling people straight out that we hate them but there are ways of putting your point across to cause less offence. Luke doesn't even try to tell people his problems with them; he's content to never address the issue and acts like the issues will go away. His comments are never positive; he just brings the house down to a leave that I, as a viewer, do not want to see.

WELL SAID!!! I posted something similar elsewhere because it really annoys me how people go on about 'if you have something to say about me, say it to my face' - as if you do that all the time!? What kind of place would the office be for instance if you just kept going up to people you didn't like and telling them... no, you're gonna tell whoever you're closest to, it's just life!! The only thing that makes BB different is that the public see and hear it all - but yes they're just doing what we all do every day! So glad you said that!

You say Luke does what we all do to other people.
How many people do you know that try to character assassinate people they do not like? How many people do you know that make things up about people in an attempt to smear their name?
Because that is what Luke does. Whether he's entertaining with it or not matters not.

I dont agree with everything he says. Kat is being herself. Luke is the only one who talks about the prize money, when has Darnell ever mentioned it. I admire that he doesn't swear, drink, take drugs, smoke. And yes people do bitch, but not as much as Luke, he does it nearly all the time.

Mohamed is greedy with the food.

Kat did go in to win...she said so herself. He said she's acted up for the cameras and she has.

Last night Luke was telling Rex how he thought he was an egomaniac...TO HIS FACE. Rex asked Luke his opinion of him and he told him. He does let people know his thoughts about them when the moment's right.

How many people go on a TV show that films them 24/7 for 3 months? How many people actually work or live in such an environment like the Big Brother house?
You don't think that's going to exaggerate normal social behaviour? Luke is doing what most people do in social or work situations. It's just seen on a much bigger scale because it's taking place in the Big Brother house.

Darnell first mentioned the prize money AND people getting airtime during the OK GO treadmill video task. Darnell was moaning that the housemates doing the task were getting extra airtime to Luke. Since then Luke has mentioned how Darnell is only there for the money rather than the experience. Darnell was the one who started the whole thing.
In such an enclosed space, with the same people and no wider influences, people latch onto a certain subject or build on a certain pattern of behaviour to get through the day. Luke's just happens to have latched onto a particular train of bitching. It's not especially positive but it's what helps to keep his mind ticking. Like Darnell singing, Lisa exercising, Kat going happy house happy house, Rachel running in the garden and so on. They all have something they do to stop them going mad. It only appears that Luke is bitching more than most people because you're watching someone cut off from other influences, interests and activities that would distract him from those thoughts.
Try staying in your house with just the same 5 people for 13 weeks without access to TV, Radio, newspapers/magazines or internet and see how long it takes before certain aspects of your character become exacerbated.
That's simply all that's happened to Luke.

Not a hard analysis to make.
Also not an analysis that warrants such disgusting abuse. If his greediness was a real problem that honestly cut into the food supply then why has no-one gone up to him and told him (and by 'told him', I don't mean shout abuse - I mean have a quiet word)? I don't recall anyone ever doing that. All I see is everyone (mostly Luke) complaining about it behind Mo's back.

Possibly, possibly not.
Again, I don't recall Darnell ever coming out and actually saying it. We only have observations that make us think he's trying to win.
We might have good reason to think he's after the prize money, but it is all speculation nonetheless. I personally think he just has extremely bad issues with himself, a persecution complex and defines the world as doing things about and for him.
Originally posted by UnblondeKat did go in to win...she said so herself. He said she's acted up for the cameras and she has.
Okay. I do not recall Kat saying she came into win. I am willing to be proven incorrect about this, but I do not at all remember her ever mentioning it.
And do we have any evidence that she is acting up to the cameras? And by evidence I mean her admitting it. And even if both is true, what right does Luke have after getting these facts correct to start insulting her and talking rubbish about her to other people? I personally don't have a problem with people playing up in there to the cameras and wanting to win. I only have a problem when people's intentions affect other people.
Why don't we also talk about Luke's delusions though? Luke has consistently complained about their group being picked off by the other group and yet they are the only group ever to have even considered that. Rex, Mohamed, Katreya have never even mentioned anything like that (Darnell in recent weeks has). The only people who mention separate groups are those that want groups to exist. He is projecting here.
And what about Luke's gibberish about Rachel and other gibberish about Kat? Both may want to win. Both may be playing a game - but Luke seems insistent that they both are, and the biggest ones at that! He has no evidence whatsoever especially for Rachel - for which his only argument is her lack of opinion on matters.

Kat said, "I came in to win," during a conversation with Rachel and Rex after Belinda was evicted.
Oh, I'm sorry. Of course bouncing around with a jar of cookies and squeeling "Cookie-Power!!!" isn't acting up to the cameras. I forgot...that's normal every day behaviour.
I've already said this so I might as well say it again. Kat went in playing a character. As she said she went in to win I can only conclude that she thought she could sale through to the final by acting all cutesy. I don't believe she's playing that character anymore as she she couldn't keep it up. But she did go in with that intention.

Rachel wants to be a teacher. She was waiting for her exam results when she entered the house, which she got the other week. She didn't, and still doesn't, want to do or say anything that will compromise her becoming a teacher when she comes out of the house. While she may not be playing a specific game in the house she is not entirely being herself. By not entirely being herself Luke has no other information to go on so can only conclude that she's playing some sort of game. If she would just let herself go and express herself properly the opinion might be different.
You have to remember, we have the benefit of having an overview of everything. Luke (and all of the housemates) can only go by what's in front of him. If Rachel is given off a feeling of holding back, I know I'd be puzzled as to what she's up to and trying to work her out.

Perhaps, perhaps not.
I don't have a problem with that. Doing that harms no-one. Spreading abuse about it behind people's back does indeed have the potential to harm people.

If true (has she admitted this?) - what is the problem? I can empathise and see exactly why Rachel does not want her potential career being jeopardized by being on this game show.
Moreover, I would imagine that she generally (in Big Brother or not) doesn't do anything that would compromise her career - so in a sense, it is a part of her character. You would not do anything that you know would compromise your education or job prospects and the same is true of Rachel in this sense.
Originally posted by UnblondeWhile she may not be playing a specific game in the house she is not entirely being herself.
Perhaps, perhaps not. To an extent, everyone will not be themselves. I imagine they were all briefed about being politically correct by Big Brother before entering. They are all probably on their wits about themselves.
Since neither of us know her - neither of us have any real understanding of what she is actually like.
Originally posted by UnblondeBy not entirely being herself Luke has no other information to go on so can only conclude that she's playing some sort of game.
This makes no sense. All Luke knows is that she is extremely reserved about opinions and that she has aspirations to be a teacher. He based all of his observations on her unwillingness to make a staunch opinion on subjects and then concludes that she is playing a game.
Does not compute. Does not add up. Perhaps the logical answer is that she is naturally a reserved character?
Originally posted by UnblondeIf she would just let herself go and express herself properly the opinion might be different.
She should not have to change herself for the prejudices and assumptions of others. She has been a very nice character in the house consistently and that is to be commended.
Originally posted by UnblondeIf Rachel is given off a feeling of holding back, I know I'd be puzzled as to what she's up to and trying to work her out.
Luke has already concluded though. He's certainly not puzzled, or at least pretends not to be.
