Ahaha, I came in here to name Ian Rankin and Val McDermid only to see this is an old thread and I already posted the exact two names before, haha. At least they stood the test of time and passed!

Off the top of my head, J.R.Tolkin, J.K.Rowling (Although I haven't actually read much Happy Potter yet, it is on my to do list! :spin2:) and Roal Dahl.
I haven't read properly in agesss though, so it's not really that great a representation of what I like. :thumbs:
