MSN Emoticons not showing

Anyone know how to fix this? When I type an emoticon like :) it just comes up as symbols.

I suggest everyone goes on to msn and only talks to him with emoticons.

it does that sometimes when you're involved in conversations with loads of people, or when people send you loads of sounds.

Either close the window, then reopen it.

Or check your options.
Tools -> Options -> Messages -> Ensure 'Show Emoticons' is ticked -> Apply -> Ok.
