I've got two films which I cannot wait for in 2008. This is the first one. It stars Heath Ledger as the Joker, Christian Bale as Batman, and the likes of Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart.

Bump.

Anyone know when this is out? I notice Meredith has a Dark Knight-themed avatar.

And wow, I posted this before he died.

We are the last to get it. It's not out in the UK & Ireland until 25th July. Australia get it on 17th, followed by USA on 18th of July.

I think it's June or July. I can't wait for this film, i think it could very well be one of my favourite films of the year since Batman Begins was amazing and the same team made this one too.

I can't wait to see this! Not been excited about a film since Spiderman 3 and it's out in about 3 weeks!! Woohoo!

Looks like it is done really well, looks dark and mysterious.

It looks really good and I will definelty go and see it even though I didn't find the first one all that great. I'm glad they have introduced the joker into this one aswell it will make it more exciting with a familiar villain rather than that scarecrow freak from the first one. My second most anticipted film of the summer after Mama Mia!

Heath Ledger (who plays the Joker), died January 22, 2008 aged 28 after an accidental prescription drug overdose.

I just got back from it.
Amazing. Batman's really come a long way since the crappiness that was Batman & Robin. Christopher Nolan was amazing at directing it!

You're in for a treat, whenever it comes out.

When he was casted as the Joker people thought he didn't suit the part and wouldn't do well but he was amazing, I agree with Rory, the movie was amazing. I saw it on IMAX

People are claiming Ledger's portrayal of the Joker is the "best portrayal of a villain ever".

I'm sorry, but that's bollocks. I know it's sad he died but he doesn't REALLY deserve all this huge hype. Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs / Jack Nicholson in The Shining easily are the best.

I agree. I haven't seen it so I can't comment on Heath's acting, but it does seem all the buzz for the film is on him. It is meant to be REALLY good though, so hopefully he does live up to the hype.

I really think Rachel McAdams should've taken over Katie Holmes' role as Rachel Dawes; however, Maggie Gyllenhaal was a good choice. What were they thinking with Holmes in Begins?

'Dark Knight' sets weekend record with $155.34M
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Warner Bros. executive says the Batman sequel "The Dark Knight" has taken in $155.34 million to top "Spider-Man 3" for best opening weekend ever at the box office.

The figures released Sunday show "The Dark Knight" more than $4 million ahead of the $151.1 million first weekend for "Spider-Man 3" in May 2007.

Studio distribution chief Dan Fellman says "The Dark Knight" also broke the "Spider-Man 3" record for best debut in IMAX large-screen theaters with $6.2 million. "Spider-Man 3" opened with $4.7 million in IMAX cinemas.

The official numbers are now $158 million.

And it's number 1 on IMDb's all time list. Pretty amazing to say the least. I'll definitely be seeing this in the cinema. But will it be sold out if I get a chance to see it? Chances are...... yes.

OMG was brilliant! I predict that its the best film this summer! So action packed and brilliant one-liners from The Joker. I might go see it again on Friday haha. Also got a holographic poster with Joker/Harvey Dent/Batman on it, exclusively for the people who went to the premier.. Woop! GO SEE THE FILM!!!

Oh my freakin' god. Just got back from seeing it, absolutely fantastic! I loved every single minute of it. It really did exceed my expectations. Heath Ledger was amazing as the Joker, faultless and I can really see why he's getting all this hype. If you thought Begins was good then you'll be blown away by this film. Action non stop. It's definitley my favorite film of 2008 so far and it's one of my best films of all time. I'm going to see it again next week with my dad. The Joker is so funny in it as well, I expected him to be really bitter but some of the stuff he did was hilarious. I really do hope this film gets loads of awards, because it seriously deserves it.

Just seen it
I expected it to be better. It was a good film, the best I have seen recently, but it was dragged on too long. There were about 3 points in the film where it could of ended but there was another bit of the story added in which made it longer so it annoyed me
Heath Ledger was amazing! He made the film, if he hadn't of been in it I would of stopped watching. Really impressed by his performance.

Haven't seen it but the first one was a film I admired rather than actually liked all that much. Cinematography, direction, acting etc. were all first-rate but it lacked emotional involvement in the story for me.

You know, I was thinking earlier and I came to the conclusion that the only people that will appreciate every second of this movie are true Batman fans. The people saying Batman Forever and such movies are better have absolutely no clue who or what Batman really is.

Of course there can. And there will be.

The Joker (and Two-Face for that matter) never actually die in the movie. This is because they were supposed to be brought back in the next one. I doubt they'd stuff up their storyline just because someone died.

Rory
07-08-2008, 04:45 AM
I don't think it'd be good to bring back Two-Face in the next film. Maybe Catwoman and maybe a villain that has never been portrayed on film. The Mad Hatter is supposed to be the guy in the hospital van that Harvey takes to a random place and is going to kill.

I thought it was the Scarecrow..

Jakeh
07-08-2008, 12:08 PM
Two-Face is basically Batman and the Joker which is why he was perfect for this film. He'll be back, but he wont be the main person.

Catwoman/The Riddler/The Penguin will not be in the next film. The directors only want people that have never been portrayed on film before. It's a great idea, but I really wanted to see what they'd do with the Penguin (my second favourite villain).

Tom4784
12-08-2008, 03:17 PM
It was an amazing film, I loved it best film of the year I thought.

I think Catwoman would be an interesting choice for the third film but isn't she one of the mystical characters that nolan wants to shy away from since she has like 9 lives and was given her powers by cats?

The main rumours I've heard about the villains for next film are Riddler or some guy named 'black mask' or 'dark mask' I can't quite remember.

Hugo
12-08-2008, 03:22 PM
I think Catwoman would be he best choice for the next film but definetly not Halle Berry, she was so wrong for the part, maybe Angleina Jolie ?
The film will need a well known villain after Heath Ledger.

Tom4784
12-08-2008, 03:50 PM
Angelina is apparently interested in it. I think i'd like to see a villain I haven't seen before, although I think Catwoman would be good (Especially if Ange does it).

Riddler would be interesting but i can see him being similar to Joker.

hanny08
12-08-2008, 03:57 PM
I've heard that the riddler is in the next one and Jonny Depp is interested in the part. Not sure how true that is but I read it somewhere on line.

Not true at all. That 9 lives, powered by cats stuff was all completely made up by Tim Burton and has absolutely nothing to do with the true Catwoman.
