Have a look at the nominations page (http://www.channel4.com/bigbrother/vote/nominations.html).

Why does the voting closes at 23:59 on Thursday 31st July 08?

Any one read anything about this?

I think that there is such a short voting period becuase the public will be voting for two housemates that they want to face the housemates desicion of who to evict

wow!

they dont stop untill they save luke!!!!!

Spike

Maybe the 2 or 3 housemates with the most votes when the lines close on Thursday will face a vote to save during the show on Friday which gives Luke the best chance to stay

Yawn..... here we go again.

If they wanted to save Luke they simply could have disregarded the nomination process altogether and just put up the cheating scum bags for the public vote. They didn't do that because they don't care who goes.

Of course they might use the mind control beams they got from the aliens from the planet Zorg to make us all vote Rex! The same beams the plan on using to make vote Luke in the final!!!!

I bet there is no reason for this, so let's not get our hopes up. Look what happened the other day with BBLB, a total let down yet again. This is no doubt just a test to see how the voting would pan out if the lines would close the night before the eviction. I'd like to hope there's a reason for it, but after the other day, I don't think I can.

during the week,
say....if the vote started as normal!
dale had most vote to start with, and then the next day, mo gets more vote
then for the most hated HM in there luke will defenatly have loads of votes,
then on friday's live show, more people will vote for luke!

but if they stop the vote early, the unlucky one with the most vote to start with will go, in this example its dale!
one night is not enough for people to vote!!!!!

And the Electoral Reform Society which checks all the voting is going to let them get away with rigging the votes.

Some how I don't think so. The votes will be fair and free!

Someone earlier said it could be a double eviction. I think that might be more the sort of thing that is going to happen, or maybe some other twist involving two or more housemates.

it would be suicide if ch4 rigged the votes.

Does that mean we wont be hearing the crowd reaction to all of the housemates then? Seeing as Davina wont have to read out the numbers, very strange.

There is more chance of aliens from the planet Zorg appearing in the house than Channel 4 rigging any public vote in Big Brother.

Clearly they set-up the phone lines in advance so it just might a technical reason or may be it has to do with the verification process, or it could be some kind of twist.

May be they are taking one person out the house and moving two or more housemates somewhere else as a twist and they have to prepare the something before they are moved depending on who gets moved.

But they could still keep the lines open until tomorrow night, If the housemates were going to choose someone to go, they are normally put on the spot with 2 minutes to decide.. Doesnt explain why the lines took ages to open either

That one is easy it takes time to set-up the equipment for the telephone lines.

They normally start setting up the lines the morning before announcing who is going. In this eviction they didn't know what was happening to yesterday afternoon and they also had more lines to set-up.

I think they close early because it will take up alot of time for Davina to go through 9 numbers a few times but then again she did it in BB7

As I said earlier in another thread, I wouldn't get your hopes up on this after what happened with the extended BBLB earlier this week. What a let down that was. I'd like to hope that there's a twist, but after the BBLB incident I think they're probably just trying out closing the lines earlier than usual.

i think that's a silly idea
if that's what they're doing
just trying closing them early
because that's half the atmosphere of the live eviction shows
knowing it's not yet set in stone

Good point. The point I'm trying to make is that we shouldn't get our hopes up on something big happening, after what happened with BBLB, and some other things this series as well. There is probably just some stupid reason that we'll never find out for it, and no twist will happen. I'm just not going to hope for anything, because I don't want to be disappointed again.

lol, they are cheap at BB.

We even have the lowest prize money in the world for winning Big Brother. You'd think after ten years they'd have made enough to put the money up to 1 million and see how the housemates act then for a big sum of money!

Maybe to give Davina a chance to prepare her script* about the housemate that is evicted, rather than having to prepare eight different interviews?

*or more accurately give the scriptwriters a chance to prepare the script for the eviction interview.

Voting Closes Tonight (Thursday)

There's only (!) eight people facing eviction this week now that Maysoon has quit the game, but you don't have until 9.30pm on Friday to vote for the one you'd most like to get rid-of at the 7th Eviction, as would normally be the case.

We say that because the voting lines will close at midnight tonight (Thursday, 31st of July 2008), something Big Brother hasn't really made clear enough in our view.

Fans have asked us why this is, and all Channel 4 can say is that it's something to do with admin. That's rather vague, and seeing as the votes are effectively counted by computers, we can't see why it isn't feasible to keep the lines open until Friday night.

Even if they had to close 30 minutes earlier to verify all the votes, it would make more sense than closing them tonight, because a lot of fans will be unaware of the situation and miss-out on the opportunity to vote. It is generally accepted that the majority of votes are placed on a Friday.

On that note, the more sceptical fans have already suggested that this is some kind of ploy to save Luke, especially when combined with the fact that it would have been Luke vs Dale until Big Bruv suddenly decided to put seven more people up for eviction.

We don't know about that, but what-with the voting lines opening a day later this week and effectively closing a day earlier, inevitably there won't be as many votes registered and it could possibly skew the result.

The less sceptical will doubtless argue that there'll be fewer votes for everyone, so the percentages will be the same, but with so many people facing eviction and such a short period of voting, there's definitely scope for the result to be much closer than it might have been.

For instance, if Luke's detractors were waiting until Friday night to vote, but Dale or Mohamed's have already called in, the result could go in a different direction.

Channel 4 say that they'll make no money from the voting during Big Brother 9, however several charities will benefit. You can find the voting telephone numbers for the 7th Eviction in our Latest News section.

Looks like bigbrotheronline.co.uk doesn't even know

?? so does that mean that Davina won't keep telling us every five minutes to phone our votes in. Can't see that happening - that is when they get most of their votes (& money) during the show!!

All very strange. Can't see it being ploy to keep Luke. For one it's got no chance of working. For two Luke without Bex is not now a major player......So why would they want to keep him in!!!!!!

Starting late and finishing early certainly sems as though something fishy is a foot! But what!!!!!!! A twist I doubt because the publics wishes would have to be honoured or another big fine would result......Baffled......:puzzled:
